...I've been tempted... more than once... but I'll have to get rid of either the Harley or the Duc to do that... with my knees, the Duc is going soon anyway, the seating position is not very supportive of my health anymore...
GS, here I come... slowly, but I will!

...I'm waiting intil they get HRO's (Hydraulic Retractable Outriggerpickeruppers) as an option.
Either that or just wait and hope they make the perfect F650 or F800 Adventure...

The only downside I remember about riding a GS was in the quality of women who booby flashed me on the strip after a Saturday ride gas up. They were generally meatier and older than the gals who flash me when I'm on the S with my leathers and silver spectra shield...
It's definitely another thing to consider.

Please, don't all of you GS gonna/wanna be's dump your S's on the market at once. It'll drive the resale values to rock bottom. Just look what the H-D posers did to the H-D resale market. I think that you all need to drink a beer, smoke a cigar and take two advil. When you wake up maybe the GS fever will have passed unless you have a real case of swap bikeitis.

I did some shopping today:
'07 KLR - $5,000 (386lbs) '08 KLR - $5,300 (386lbs) KTM 640 Adventure - $8,898 (340lbs) '07 GS - $15,300 (439lbs) The KTM would be the easiest to pick up. The GS would be the fastest if rapid transit was ever needed, and the KLR is definitely the cheapest (and I've seen barely used ones for $3-$4K)...the KTM looked the funnest of the three...but with 5K valve adjustment intervals.

MoDog.
Quality of women is always a concern. When I'm riding downtown I want the girls to point and say "hey, that things a classic" and mean the bike and not me. Perhaps then they'll flash. So I'm still leaning toward the R....

...if you really want to be "flashed"... you need a Duc! Trust me on that one... the most recognized bike among chicks... weirdly enough, to them Ducati means a lot more that it does to me, it seems. To me it's one of my bikes... to the girls it seems to prove that I am hot, rich and fast... I am never stupid enough to argue.... of course, it all disolves as soon as the helmet comes off! ![]()

Mo Dog you omitted pr5haps intentionally the F650 GS $7990 at Max BMW
Not gonna perfom like that 1150 I did get up to an indicated 105 MPH I remember a Fundoro having hard time getting to 95 on the Kanamangus a few years ago My R65s liked running close to redline, don't think any of this is pure ergonomics and mechanics, I would like a deal on a used speed triple or Triumphs new adveture bike. The dualie bug hit me, first a DRz400, then an ugly KLR, then the little GS, then a better looking KLR (the ugly one could leave anytime). The S has always been strickly a weekend ride, though my kid has probably put more miles on it this year than I have. I'm just going to do the zen thing and wait for a good deal on a big GS. Unsure if the S will stay when that happens.
