I have had Nationwide for 30 years with no problems, they have been quick with any claims I have had. I guess having a clean driving record, having a house (like someone said), married, and 47 may have something to do with it.
All my coverages are with them which includes a multi car & multi motorcycle discount. I carry the basic liability coverage on my 3 motorcycles 65' & 88 BMW's, & 06" Ducati (Ducati to soon be replaced with a R1100's). about $340 a year for all. |

Couple of things I learned from being hit by a drunk. Progressive will pull out all the tricks to try and avoid paying. The cheapest insurance is only as good as their claims dept. It took me about 7 months to get them to pay on what was an absolute cut and dry claim. Just when we were about to settle they did an adjuster switch and we had to start all over agin. Custom parts riders are a joke, they deprecaite all custom parts at an outrageous rate. When I asked to see the depreciation table, I was finally told that it was at the adjusters discretion. You really never know how good your insurance is until you have to use it.

"You really never know how good your insurance is until you have to use it."
Wise words indeed... An aside about Progressive - I too called for a quote while bike shopping recently. They gave me a figure close to $1400.00. When I bought the bike I called 'em and the final cost was $800.00. I asked why such a large discrepancy and they said the VIN number was the key for an accurate quote. If they don't have the VIN its possible the bike gets miscategorized and therefore the quote may be higher than the actual cost. So far I've been happy with Progressive, but I haven't had to test them like daveel has. Hopefully none of us have to find out how good our insurance is...
