customized jacket!
in the spirit of this forum, and my own sense of style, i have customized my Icon Motorhead Jacket. I know there are some here who think these are junk, but it suits my sporting purposes. Check out the result, I got the patches off eBay, I have a couple of flamey things for the sleeves that I haven't put on yet. The local shoe repair guy stitched them on for me, total expenditure was about $50 between patshes and sewing, I am a bit partial to it myself!

Nice one! I esspecialy like the logo on your back. I have been standing with that jacket in my hands and the leather looked very good and the jacket was very heavy. Also think the white is very cool and that it has a low collar and lot's of ventilation options in it. Only downside and why I didn't get it just yet is that is has no connection zipper to atatch it to a pair of pants. Why do people think they are junk though?

Icon jackets are probably just fine, depending on the style. At least that one looks to be.
The back patch is nice, but looks a lot like a Fat Boy emblem.

here is a link to an eBay search on "BMW motorcycle patches" look around, there are lots more. why do some people think these jackets are junk? because they aren't made in the fatherland and don't cost $500! I actually thnk its pretty damn well made, and fits great. it even comes with elbow and shoulder cups, and a back pad, certainly not race ready, but definately streetable.

ICON's rep. has taken a hit when they decided to fully concentrate on the Street Fighter/Squid/Hooligan market.
They have been our customer for quite some time and thus I have gad a chance to inspect and consequently I have bought quite a bit of their gear... Their Mesh Jacket/Pant combination is excellent and their Helmets (though the designs are debatable, but - once again - target group) are VERY good... and their gloves are very good too... the leather jackets are of high quality (leather AND finishing) and I don't see any reason to bash their products... As I said... it's their target market that sheds a bad light... but from where I stand, financial success tells me that they are on to something! Just look what the Squids and Streetfighter/Stunta's are wearing - if they wear anything!

Thanks, for explaining where the crap remark came from. Personally I also thought that the quality of the leather was good and very thick(compared to lot's of others) and the design of the motorhead looks very appealing to me due to the fitment and the long rear(lot's of leather jackets are quite short) and the white color looks great and helps getting noticed on the road. As for pricing the Motorhead jacket is as expensive as an BMW Airflow 3 jacket and I'm doubting between that jacket and the Icon for use in the summer along with BMW summer pants I already own.

i have a few bits of icon gear. they're relatively well made for the price. the only problem is the "whiggah" styling.
when i transistioned from harley to victory i simply ripped off all the old patches and had a saddle maker sew new ones on.

one thing that put me off of icon products was their sizing. as i tried to wedge myself into an XL icon jacket, i remember asking the shop clerk if it was a children's/women's jacket. everything from them i've ever tried on, seems two sizes smaller than labeled. especially helmets. i know most bike-apparrel manufacturers tend to run their sizes smaller, but from my experience icon is the worst offender, and with the squiddy rep, i've pretty much lost interest in their gear.

...outside of the obvious target group marketing, iCON's campaign has been impressive. Actually the quality is quite good. The product design (graphics), execution and focus is about the best I've seen from an independent clothing vendor. Really twitchin' stuff...and ludicrous at the same time.
Like the Harley costume catalogue it's a place where you can go buy your rugged individualism. I just wonder what these kids think when they go to choose an iCON helmet or jacket, pre-style, pre-sponsor-patched, pre-imaged...do the think they're gonna be the first kid on their block to have a ScreaminSkull helmet? How many chickies are going to buy those cute lil pink chaps with the stars and fringe? Wierd. I guess it's just a consumer world where everything is thought out for you ahead of time. But I digress. That plain black and white jacket is nice....surprisingly inderstated. I like what you did to it. Very nice. Maybe there's a way to de-iCON it. ![]() Ditto the sizing...it appears that most stuff made in China is just a little bit smaller..they have a real communication problem over there when it comes to real-world size and numbers. I think they still use the counting beads system.

I love the look, very clean and the patches really show what BMW's club jacket should of looked like. Job well done.
