THROTTLEMEISTER's Screen?

Hi, Throttlemeister.

A while ago you were looking for a screen for your bike, as am I right now.

I was searching thro' Google and your photos on sport-touring.eu came up (!) and I noticed that you had a black screen ... what is that one?

Thanks for your time.

Regards,

Nick

Hi Nick,

I assume you mean this:

It's actually not black, but dark grey. In the light outside, you can see through it. But if black is your thing, you can get it completely black too.

It's a GP500 racing screen from Gläser (anyone remember those guys? They did some big touring fairing in the airhead days) I bought it from Pack Parts. Got it in about two weeks, as it wasn't in stock at the time of my order. The 'racing grey' you see on the page is the one I got.

Ahhhhh. Thanks! That was the one I was looking at ...

How is it? Good Quality? Better than stock?

Thanks again!

Nick

It's a little thinner than stock, so it can move a bit more but I have not found it to do so annoyingly at normal speeds. Fit and quality are excellent. Wind noise is similar to stock. I am happy with it.

Dunno.. never measured it, but since airflow seems about similar for me, I am guessing height is similar and its just shaped a bit differently. And looks a lot better because of it.

... still can't make up my mind! I think it's the way to go but still keep ging back to look at this ...

... like the way they have painted the lower part of the screen ... and it's not too long/tall.

CHeers for the help!

decisions decisions...

I had a Pack parts dubble bubble for a while, I liked the design, looked good, but it's about 1/2 as thick as the stock item if that.
Very thin. If anything it created more turbulance than the stock sport shield.
If you want protection get a OEM tall screen an a laminar lip.
I like the look of that MRA screen though...
On the S, if you want your head in un-buffeted air the only way to go is as low as possible.
That should add to your confusion..

RD, it very much depends on the person. I am 6'2", and with the stock sport screen as well as the double bubble I have now I don't have any buffeting and sit in nice, quiet air. Of course the wind hits be about halfway in my chest, I prefer that over sitting behind a screen anyway.

I'd be confused ... but the wife says I'm a brainless fool ...

I'll see how the GP500 goes first. And yeah, RD, I noticed that the vast majority of aftermarket screens are so much thinner than stock ...

... yet cost twice as much! I'm in the wrong job!

CHeers,

Nick
