installing a horn

Ok, I remeber back a little while ago there was a post of someone installing a 139 db horn to there bike. I bought and tried to install mine but could find a spot to put it. I was wondering if anyone knew where the thread went... Thanks

Found this when I did a search on horn and looked under the thread titled Twinmax, go figure..........

Also got the 'Stebel Nautilus Compact Dual-Tone 12-Volt Air Horn, 139 dB'

A 2lb insurance policy.

Do us a favor and post a .mp3 of the horn once you have it installed. =D

I've been debating installing one but I have no idea how it sounds.

Yup... loud alright. A friendly 'the light's green and you can move off now' is difficult. Scares people & sounds like a freigh train. I love it myself.

It's loud alright! Blow it in the garage & your ears will be ringing. I put one on my wife's S using the stock mounting position as shown in the thread but mounted the relay just in front of the battery & fuse holder right behind the tank.

True air horns are also directional which puts more honk forward and less backward. No substitute for the real dual-tone thing. BTW, db ratings are made up by the Marketing Department, have no agreed way to measure, and bear only a loose relationship to effectiveness as a warning sound.

I put a PIAA sport horn on my S. Takes up residence where the stock horn was. Added a 1/2 of a K horn for kicks on the other side of the post. Each puts out a 130db. Works well for deer erradication.
