Friday Fun Poll: How often do you wash your bike?

some members on this board are known for their pristine motorcycles. fer instance, john lyon has actually been seen eating off of his.

others, who shall remain nameless (but their initials are steve carlton), have a more relaxed outlook on bike "sparkle".

how often do you sneak up on your bike with a garden hose?

...when my ridding buddies don't want to be seen with me anymore... or twice a year, whichever comes first (sometimes).

Though I do have to admit that they do look nice, when they are shiny... but it is my theory that "shinier bikes are more at risk to get stolen"...

Works for me

Hey... I'm in therapy now. It's easier with my own driveway now. Plus black doesn't allow as much laziness. So, I voted when I'm getting embarrassed.

When it rains.

Unless I know a Pelican is dropping by, or I will be riding with one, then I hose it off, and spritz it up a little with some UV2 spray.

When the front is covered in gnats and bugs. Which is every ride in the summer.

When it was new I really kept it clean but after the novelty wore off, not often enough.. I usually just clean off the bugs from the front end. Got an 04 with 40K on it.. It's for sure a "rider"

apartment living makes it tough to wash. I have to run over to my buddies to wash it maybe twice a year. Recently discovered how well plexus works, so I might do that more often, and moving to a house in a month, so that'll increase wash rates too.
I do like the look of her all lathered up in bubbles..

Most of mine probably get hosed three times/year. If I've had a muddy DS ride it might get washed the next weekend.

Haha I wish I had the determination to keep mine clean, a commuter through rain, dirt and road grime is such a darn pain to keep up. But, if I am bored and have the glass cleaner out I will shine off the plastics to keep the dirt from getting on me. The wheels get cleaned (only)where I touch them on tire changes. I usually keep the light lenses and mirrors relatively clean though.

Depends:

DirtBikes They get a bath right when when they get home, a dry-off ride, float-bowl drain, then a WhaleCum (Amor All) rubdown, WD40 on all-non-plastics, chain lube, air-filter visual, then a thank you.

RoadWarriors They get a WhaleCum rubdown BEFORE every ride, and a bath AFTER a ride like this weekend ...

... which occur often enough for the thing to get 2 - 3 baths a year.
