Oil leak - any guess where it's coming from?

I recently completed two great days of track riding but I'm wondering if I over did it a bit on the S. After the first day on the track, my oil level was registering just above the bottom of the circle. I added a bit less than 1/2 a quart and brought it up almost to the top of the circle. After my second day on the track, where I spend about 200 miles at 7K+ RPM, I noticed the leak on the right side between the tranny housing and the engine.

My first reaction was a leaking rear main seal, but it looks like the oil is coming from somewhere up high. I don't see a lot of oil at the bottom of the engine/tranny joint.

I pulled the starter and the clutch parts look oil free. Can the rear seal leak and allow the clutch to stay dry?

The starter has a bit of oil on it.

I pulled the air box drain plugs and got about 1 to 2 ounces of oil out of the right side. The left side drain plug was dry. I expect you will tell me that I had too much oil in the bike for high RPM running. Can anyone explain where the leak is coming from. It doesn't make sense to me. The bike is a '99 that just turned 10K miles.

Thanks for the help.

I'm thinking exactly what you've said, Oil in the airbox from high RPM. Maybe your airbox has a small hole in it? Maybe the crancase breather hose is cracked or slipped off.

Good suggestion. I have not noticed the crankcase breather hose while poking around. Can I see if without pulling the tank?

Not quite sure there but you should be able to trace it back from the airbox. Some people have disonnected it on purpose and put a K&N Filter on the end. The important thing is, is it losing oil now? Most here would agree that to the top of the circle is overfilled. Our bike when overfilled tends to get rid of that extra oil quickly. If the oil level has stableized you can rule out anything major.
