OT: Checking the Competion

After helping my wife close up the Kiwanis booth following the county fair today I came across the motorcycle display of a local used car dealer. He carries the Shandong Pioneer line. I was immediately drawn to largest of the fleet, the XF250. Picture a Rebel done as a Road King, only not quite as well done as Honda would have. The tank sticker caught my eye.

"You must observe the following safety rules; otherwise it will result in a accident happening:

Wear the safety helmet, protect the eyes, and wear the conspicious clothing.

When the road is slippery or the eyeshot is not good, you must decelerate."

Jim

Not sure if they should be bragging about the 'kick-back starter'.

Hey, the 250 does get 112.5 miles per gallon! Try that with your Honda or Road King!

See the thread about first bikes for female companions. They sell a Korean version of the Shan Dong Quong Bong called the Ching Chang Chong (or something like that). A lady friend at the newspaper where I work bought one for next to nothing and has been riding it for over a year without a single mechanical problem. Women don't seem to have the mechanical ego thing like men. She's as proud as punch of that junky bike. I'll bet she's never traveled over 60 mph on it, which is probably it's max. I still don't get the one-into-two exhaust concept, except to make people think you have another cylinder. She's probably spent more on leather riding outfits than the bike cost. To her credit, she rode it to Colorado and back.

With China's history lately, I think I will stay away from any bikes made in China.
I will stick with BMW, but am open to Japan, Italy, UK, and Austria even American, but no Chinese...
