Central CA Ride Routes?

Hwy/road suggestions for the area between Santa Cruz and Morro Bay, CA?

I'm limited to two days Sat/Sun (overnight) departing from Sacramento, CA in the morning (can return late Sunday night).

After the Holiday's I'd like to find a riding location south of Sacramento for warming riding than the north offers this time of year. Can't do much about the shorter days but I'll take what I get away with.

I've been on some of what south SF Bay area has to offer, i.e., Skyline Dr, La Honda, Pseudo Dr. and 9.

Is Hwy 1 or 101 south to Morro Bay ok to get one to the riding east of these hwy's? There's two State Parks around there.

Quick search = Hwy--58, 299, 41, 25, 198, Nacimiento, Old Creek Rd (only 10 miles but good) Indian Valley, Peachy Canyon, Las Palitas, Park Hill and Santa Rosa Creek.

LEO's hot spots?

Thanks in advance, jab r12s (only 2,500 mi)

VERY well worth it... you can access the site for free, but the map part is $20 a year... best $20 invested!

Smile

I've ridden most roads listed. I know the founder. Great guy. You can do ride reports and take pic's and have the road list updated. Most roads aren't real world as you'll find most are very smoothe. We really are spoiled up here in N. CA. This time of year the passes are closed. At 7000-9500 ft. elevation they really are the crown jewels in the spring/summer for riding. Very little LEO.

a great way to make your way south (or back north after you've ridden jeff's route) is to take hwy 25 out of hollister. a perfect road, and it's like traveling through 1930's california.

Good of you to offer Jeff, hopefully in the not to distant future. I've got holiday stuff to help out with around here plus the father-in-law's "pad" needs attention. So I doubt I'll get very far until after the Holidays.

I flake-out of family stuff quite often during the warmer months so this time of year I try to make up for it a little bit.

ahhhhh so tempting...
