real world 1200s

hello folks...
ive been gone from this site for a couple of years, since i sold my 1100s...... ive been looking at the new 1200s model with interest....
is the 1200s everything that you guys expected it to be? how about power? everyone seemed to be disapointed in the 1100s power, how about the 1200? what are its short comings?
thanks

There are no mechanical shortcomings.
Power is great.
The bike is more comfortable straight from the factory.
Many things are easier to work on.

Some are not happy with the Canbus system.
Some do not like the looks/styling.
Some wish the seat was more for two up touring.
Some do not like the exhaust look.
Some wanted hard bags. That has now been resolved.
Some do not like the key system.

Some do not like the fact that they don't have one.

I've had 3 11S's and loved them, but the 12S is in a different league.

having just come off an R11 to get on an R12 all i can say is WOW! although my R12 has a Remus exhaust and the optional Ohlins, the engine is really where its at! the power (spread, delivery, and total!) is phenomenal. i wasnt a big fan of the stock dual pig anus muffler, and was pretty skeptical about the stock "sport" shocks.. but the way i have mine detailed out now is pure nirvana!

why not 12S HP? that might be a big meaningful step from 11S? 11S to 12S might be a step you would mistake as a leap initially but soon might realize it's not. I am big on going for alternating generation, skipping one (besides, a bike is good for at least 10 years and who's got so much money to through away, ride hard and enjoy the ride you already have)

Question R1100S vs R1200S

Werewulf I "only" own an R1100S but often ride with a friend who rides an R1200S and we swap bikes often on weekend trips.
The main difference and advantage of the R1200S that it has more power.
But the rest compared to the R1100S is like one step ahead two steps back.
Handling is the same. Both very good.So are the brakes and fuel consumption.
My 1100 with clip ons above the triple clamp clamp and thicker padded seat is more comfortable.I would never ask a passenger to get behind me on the 1200S.The bags are 7 liter smaller on the 1200.A centerstand is not available.
Only you can decide if the more in go is worth the deficencies in the comfort and practicality department...
I like the engine, fuel gage and gear indicator better on the new one, also the easier access to battery, airfilter and lack of fuel filter. The rest I like as good or better on the old one...

...Steve... I hate to break it to you, but Renee Zellweger HAS won something in her ongoing career... Anna Pornikova neither has an ongoing career, nor has she won anything!!! LOL

So, if that takes part of the analogy... Renee Zellweger is more like the GS... not AS exciting and aggressive as the "S"... but with quite a bit more longevity and style... I kinda like her!

... you would know, I guess? LOL

...quite frankly... I'd prefer Renee there as well... I not quite sure that Anna has more to offer! There is something to be said for age and experience... at least to me!

...look what just crawled outta the woodwork...

I'd say they handle similar, but the 12 is quicker/sharper
they are both 6-speeds, but the 12 is quicker/smoother
they are both twins, but the 12 is quicker/faster

not much else to compare really...

Wink ???

I really don't know how those two bimbos relate to our beloved S bikes???
I bore ore a russian whore...Nothing like our S bikes at all!
I would rather say the 1100S is like a good housewife that is good in the sack and cooks and cleans while the the 1200S looks like it is better in the sack (but really isn't that much better) but definately won't cook or clean.
Both from the same family but one a good honest girl that delivers while the other is more of a tease with more make-up and fake boobs...
A much more accurate description...

I'd rather spank Anna. She can cook and she can carry the luggage. She's just not good for a three-way. Renee's just not quite as good a spinner.
