Yeh I know.

Was in yesterday and heard the rumour 2 days ago.

Picked up some filters and oil.

Looked at the GSXR1000.

The dealio is on the HP. $21K with an extra set of rims & rubber.

Also, rumoured that 2 more dealers in Ottawa area may be closing.
And nine dealers in Ontario are for sale.

Insurance, Speed Laws, and parity with USA dollar are having an impact on bigger bike sales me thinks. What do you think?

I agree, the difference in US pricing on parts, accessories and motorcycles is cannot be ignored. Despite the dollar, Canada still has some sort of artifical levy against it. I was looking at the MazdaSpeed 3 and new Infiniti G series auto and the price difference ranged from something like $6,000 - 8,000 dollars Canadian. Even with the duty and taxes paid you are still coming out significantly ahead. I know a few people have bought the new Concours in the USA because of the savings.

Does this put a dent in the HP2 Sport?

another factor is Quebec is a great place to buy a sportbike today. A dealer friend in Laval said they still have 2004/5 CBR1000RR's there. No one can afford the insurance.

I've found over the years that my insurance, despite my clean record never diminishes. Whatever motorcycle I buy it always seems to add more on. I'm wondering when the motorcycle industry is finally going to self insure.

Man I was looking at the price of a R1200S for 22K which you can buy down here for 16,000. No wonder Canadian's are suing the car industry for unfair pricing.

Sorry to read the bad news, I hope things turn around soon.

That's a bit of a shock and a definate disappointment...there are some decent folks there and I hope they land on their feet somewhere.

Has there been any talk about one of the other dealers picking up the BMW marque? I have to think there is value in being "THE" BMW dealer in the Ottawa area.
