The USA price will be $24,950.00. Dealers will require a deposit, prolly before BMW will allocate a bike to the dealer.
I would suggest that you deal with a knowledgeable dealer on these bikes. Can Not wait......................... ![]()

Well, it looks like the value of the R1200S won't be damaged. Any word on the available options and prices, Dean? Color schemes?

Don't know any more than what I posted.
I think the price is reasonable considering everyone was talking $30K or more.

I talked with a dealer on the number of Desmocidisci RR's sold at $72K. I would have thought there would be a challenge to find the limited plan of 2-300 to meet the pricetag. They have decided to fill the demand with over 1000 bikes. Some people are buying two. Dealers have to take delivery on two. The dealer I was talking two had 8 in the running, with more potential buyers waiting in the wings. The amount of money that the dealers must invest for these big dollar Ducs just in the delivery isn't cost effective at all.
Sort of made the HP2 sound cheap. . . relatively. Still far from cheap for this guy. |

My Duc dealer noted they need to sell two D16RR's to break even. The reason? $15,000 to send a technician to Italy for training. He just returned. I wonder what kind of agreement/plan they have if he decides to leave! FWIW, They do have deposits for two Desmosedici's and have ordered a third for the showroom.

I'd bet most of the Desmosedici demand is pure speculation. Buyers are figuring the bikes will appreciate off the showroom floor, much like many Ferraris do. The up in production is is already giving many of them sweaty palms, I bet.
Speculation is speculative and high risk as anyone who had contracts down on a recent Miami condo can tell you. If you're "investing" in a HP2, I'd be cautious - the track record of the HP Enduro should give you pause. - Mark |

If you got that kinda of cash more power to you. Most here don't, including me. Personally, I think its a stupid price considering what your buying.
. In 2-3 years you'll find 'em under $18K with less than 10,000 miles. Anyone want to bet otherwise.? . I just wonder whose going to be the first to take delivery of one. hmmmmm ![]()

I'm not spending any money on NEW internal-combustion powered devices for a long while.
I'm keeping what I've got and maintaining them. Cheaper that way and the Natuenazis will have a harder time crawling into my skivvies that way. CARB=NAZI

Hi all
I sense a little bit of bitterness and resentment amongst a few here regarding the hp2s,cost and ownership credentials. If your into the boxers and i mean , really into them and you want a hp2s.Then go for it .Have your dreams and realize them.As someone once said "its mere money" . Too bloody true! You cant take it with you ,it wont get you a better life after death.Life is for living now.If you can afford it, either cash or credit and if you really want one ,then get one and sod the people who say other wise. What do they know about what YOU like ,love or want?Nothing thats what. Pdonnell You are a turkey of the highest order.Always having a sly dig (or not so sly sometimes)at certain members who are enthusiasts of the boxer.Remember this IS a board for Enthusiasts of the r1100s and r1200s.You have neither at the moment. You only seem to post to ffend or upset. You dont contribute anything usefull. gus |

...I fail to see where pdonnell said anything that will not prove to be true... as for the enthusiasm you are so gallantly speaking off... good for you that you have it... yet, you shouldn't try to speak for others... Just because someone does not have a bike that would "fit the bill" here at any moment, does not mean that they are not welcome to post.. there are plenty of people on here who do not have (or never had) a BMW motorcycle... You also seem to think that - as an enthusiast - one is not allowed to offer an opinion that might be critical towards the vehicle or the company in question... as such, you are what the dealers of this world need to survive! Good for your dealer that you will buy ANYTHING of markee... Some people just seem to want some reasonable value for their money... what's so wrong with that? So, why don't you just go ahead and buy an HP2S... and the likes of pdonnell and I are happy to wait in the wings to scoop them up at a decent price, as soon as the "happy owners" have figured out that it might be shiny... but in the end it's just another bike, overpriced and over hyped... good luck with your purchase... let me know when you are selling ![]()

Hi
I feel no bitterness what so ever.Plus, you really dont seem top be able to understand my post.It aint rocket science that a bike will depriciate over 3 years and 10,000 miles. Some people may want to buy one as soon as they come out.Infact if they didnt, you wouldnt be able to get a used one. I am not a blinkered BMW enthusiast dealers dream by a long straw. I am not also buying a HP2s.Didnt say i was.So dont go making asumptions on my behalf. Nothing wrong in getting value for money, depends on how much you value YOUR money. If you know what i mean. ![]() Your right,You dont HAVE to own a BMW to post here ,I didnt say that. I will say if someone is acting like an arse though. In my opinion of course. gus |

I heard your heart Gus and I agree....pdonnel does seem to post only to throw $hit.....haven't seen a real contribution wherein I've learned something in quite awhile....been wondering why he even hangs around. But it's the internet ain't it and that means hang at your leisure. Reference the new bike.....don't know if I'll get a new one or not as it seems I am less and less worthy riderwise of all the wonder that comes with any of these things, but I sure won't be asking anyones permission or care at all if they approve or not. Mr. Smart has 83.5 dock-u-minted horse powers and it's pretty quick! Only weighs 430 lubs too. Fine bike. Too bad it's such a noodle rack. But I digress.....hangin' on the internet will do that to you, ya know.

I don't think that was in question... I just didn't get what ticked you off about pdonnell's post...:confused we all give each other **** at times... some more than others... some deserved, some not so...!? ![]()

...looks like a nice 1150 v-twin with about 150 crank ponies and no more than 190 KG fully wet!!! The prototype is making the running at 175KG!!! WET! Now I am really waiting to make ANY decision...

The prototype moves around at about 175 KG (385 pounds) WET!!! and the production model is to be no heavier than 190 GK (418 pounds) WET!!! Fuel and everything! Crank HP are 150 and the engine is 1150ccm ... looks are nice for now, but we'll have to see what the final bike will be like... no pricing yet, but it's a KTM... so it's most likely to be pricey. Looks good to me though! ![]() ![]()

...here's some more info, Don:
KTM on the other hand is riding into the unknown with its RC8 1150 prototypes. Currently KTM only operates two prototypes for various testing. We were told earlier this year that KTM would build the world’s most powerful V-twin engine. With the new Ducati 1098 in mind this could prove to be just hype, but the Austrians seem to know what they are doing. We don’t know that much about the specifics about the engine yet, but it is destined for World Superbike racing in the end. KTM will most likely not race the RC8 in World Superbike 2008, but rather 2009. In 2008 KTM plans to race the bike wherever it will be allowed on national level. Current regulations will not allow the 1150 V-twin to be raced either in AMA or BSB which are the two most competitive national series in the world with world class machines and riders. So what is likely to happen is that the RC8 will be further developed in the national Superstock series in Italy and Germany in 2008. From the summer of 2007 KTM will escalate its development process from the two prototypes to a full range of nearly production ready machines. And in the Autumn KTM will launch the bike to the press first at the EICMA show in Milan and then the dynamic ride launch immediately after. So the KTM RC8 1150 is one dream bike that can be purchased for the 2008 season. Our insiders both at KTM and Ducati confirmed exclusively to us that they are in good contact regarding the World Superbike regulations. Both KTM and Ducati have it in their interest to be allowed to race the new machines that will top both firms production range. Words: Tor Sagen/Photo: KTM
