Do I head South or North?
So, I've got a free week the beginning of July and will be doing a MC trip with my brother. I live in Delaware and we are debating a northern loop hitting Maine, VT, NY, PA, etc. OR, do we do a southern loop heading down through VA, TN, NC, etc.
The northern loop could be cool hitting places like Acadia, Montreal, Lake Placid, etc. The southern loop would be cool to hit places like Deals Gap (never ridden it), Asheville, The Smokeys and the great roads off of the BRP. Any thoughts from the well traveled peanut gallery?

I'd go North. It's pretty hot in western NC in July.

If you like city's go north, if you like twisties, go south.
Not a lot to see in L Placid, IMHO. The old city in Montreal is suppose to be nice, but surely crowded that time of year, and the rest of the city is just that, a city. If riding some good roads is part of it, then stay out of the north. There are some decent roads, but also frost heaves, broken pavement, construction all over the place etc. It can be warm in the Carolinas, but just stay high, altitude is your friend in hot weather, me I would gosouth. That being said, which ever way you go, I can help with routes, attractions, what to miss, and what not to miss, etc.

This is a BEAUTIFUL motorcycle only campground at the western end (Telico Plains, TN) of the Cherohala Parkway. Great central location to ride all of eastern Tenn, western NC, north Georgia.

we have a few nice roads up this way. if you have specific goals in mind, certain things you want to see then yeah New England is OK.
If you want to wander round and melt your sidewalls go South.
