the golf one looks pretty cool, but i wonder how you balance the golf bag standing still, when they are variable weights.

I'm not sure what you mean by "they are variable weights".

The Segway stands up on its own, even though it's not weight-balanced when it's loaded or unloaded. That's what the gyroscopes and accelerometers in the unit are for.

Remember that DARPA-funded 4-legged walker we saw the video of a month or two ago that could keep itself upright on ice and when getting kicked? Same principle.

I'd be curious as to the hit to the battery life having to constantly re-balance itself whenever you slam your club back down into the bag in frustration.

what i learned from riding a segway:
you can't wheelie 'em.
you CAN face plant. hard. very, very hard.
they don't like to go down stairs.
they DEFINITELY won't go up an escalator, regardless of how hard you try.

you can make your own for less than a thousand bucks: http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/21/clever-students-create-cheapo-diy-segway/

Ingenuity and convenience working against us. We should be promoting exercise, not laziness.

Imagine if Tiger Woods carried his own clubs and still beat the field. Now that would be awesome. I think he could do it.
