Advice for selling my R1200S
Well it looks like I'll be putting up my beloved R1200S for sale this June so my new bride and I can buy another house. (I'm Navy) Plus I'm feeling my mortality vs. thrill ratio of riding swinging to the not-so-good side as I get older and drivers on my commute seem to be getting worse by the day.
Where the best place to put a classified ad for my bike? I was going to put it on ebay, but I'm worried it won't go for much. I think book is $12k for these bikes now, I still owe $16k on mine. It is silver, ABS, Ohlins, 190 rear tire, heated grips, and 4600miles. I also have the Akrapovic slip on, BMW tank and tail bags, throttle lock, Xenon HID headlights, and clear turn signals. I could sell it with all items to make it look better than the stock bikes, or put it back to stock and sell the exhaust and luggage here or on ebay. Just looking for advice from you guys who've sold BMW bikes before.

I'd sell the farkles here if you re-stock the bike. Ebayes want everything for bottom dollar. Big difference between a marriage sale and a divorce sale.

Creditors look at existing debt when dedicing to approve a loan... then again, seems creditors lately have been doing a great job approving virtually everyone.

I'm interested in buying your bike with everything when it comes time for you to sell.... and the June timeframe gives me time to sell my '04 R1100S (12K, super-clean, Phoenix Grey, Ohlins, Bags - regular and city lids, Staintune, wide rear wheel, Xexon, ABS, BMW tank bag, heated grips, etc.)
Who is your bike financed through, what's the interest rate and is the loan transferable to someone with excellent credit?

No bride, take the bike! If that breaks you can fix it

At least she agreed to let me get a sports car after the house is bought. I'm looking at the BMW 135i.

"let me"....you're in for a long, torturous life if things don't get on a more even playing field.
I'm the last to tell someone how to make a marriage work, but EVERYONE needs a hobby. After all, someone, somewhere is tired of the latest beauty on television and wants to get out and do something they enjoy. Keep the bike, and let that be your hobby, your stress release. Just be fair and let her have her time too. |

...once again, if ANY lady in my life would start interfering with my passions, she'd be gone... the bikes would still be there!
I don't force anyone to be with me (nor can I or would I) but if they make the decision for themselves to be with me... accept what I do and who I am... many of those who tried to change me are now trying to change someone else, I guess... good luck and good riddance! Lucky are those who have a better half that shares (or at least understands) their passion in life! However, I believe in Zimm's case it is slightly different... it's not that she said "You have to sell the bike"... or at least that's not how it came across... they made a decision to buy a house - Whereas I'd wait a little longer, Zimm... the market is only getting better! - and he seems to lose his comfort factor on the bike. That's entirely different.
