Staintune exhaust
I just picked up a Staintune tailpipe and connector off ebay for my R1200S. The pictures on Staintunes web site make it look as though its easy to fit. Anyone with this system want to chime in with any what or what not to do's. Thanks

I saw the eBay auction too. A great buy! I love my Staintune (R1100S though).

I live in Mission BC. I think I got a good buy as well. It was hardly used and I like the look of the tailpipes as well as there being no need to repack them as well. I'll post pics when they arrive.

Well, the staintune system arrived and it was apleasure to fit it. It weighs exactly half of the stock system and fits exactly and securely. The sound is wonderful, quiet enough for a track day test, but loud enough to sound good through ear plugs. I'll post pictures soon

I fitted the full Staintune system to my RT a couple weeks ago. Before that, I installed the Staintune full system to my "old" R1200GS.
The best way to do it, is to start with the headers. Make sure you buy new exhaust gaskets from the dealer. Put on the new gaskets. Screw on the headers... but DO NOT tighten them down. Just lightly screw them in.... enough to be able to move them. Spray some silicone, or WD-40 on the ends to be fitted. It just makes it easier to slide on. Connect everything, including the muffler... but make sure you don't tighten *anything*, until everything is in place. Once you're happy with the way things line up, go ahead and tighten things from the headers on, then clamps, and so on. ![]() |

Its called "Stompgrip", its not available as a fitted piece for an R1200, that is the generic sportbike fitment. It works great allowing your knees to grip the tank easily without marking your pants, taking the weight off the bars. Its about $40.

...great looking pipes, the only thing that bothers me a little is the fat that they stick out just a tad to far for my taste... but only when seen from the side!

After how good the R11S pipes looked, I was quite surprised at what they did to the R12S pipes. Unless, of course, those are choke tips, but even then...

I always liked the shape of the Zard system and even that of the stock system, but the price was right for these pipes, they are beautifully made, are very light, never require repacking ( a huge plus for those of us who have repacked pipes before) and mostly they sound great; a little louder but not offensive.

All just opinions.... as long as your happy. Some of us still have the stock that many don't like. Whatever.
