Engine dies after fill up

So my 'new' to me bike has been running pretty good so far, except for a couple hiccups here and there. I've been averaging about 1200 miles a month on the new S and so far here's what I've noticed.

1) the engine does not like to idle at 1100rpm. It will when cold, but after coming to a standstill from any sort of speed, she'll more often than not stumble and will not idle smoothly. Seems like Repoe3's bike had the same issue. It hasn't been as severe as his bike but the symptoms are virtually alike.

2) Quite recently, twice so far, the engine has died several minutes after filling up. She just won't idle at all.

I didn't do the canisterectomy on the bike so I know I've got to do some reverse engineering in this dept. As soon as I pop open the fuel filler I can hear the tell tale signs that the tank vent is blocked since it makes that obvious vaccum sound.

TB nipples are not capped. Seems they have a hose connected (I assume from one to the other). Since my 'old' S was still canistered and I've never actually done the 'ectomy', what do you sages recommend? Cap the TB's? As for tank vents, etc... how many from the tank? I can actully see three down tubes (vents?) leading just past the rear brake cylinder. Thoughts?

Oh, spark plugs are great. Yes, I may need to change out the air filter but she's only got 15k on her now.

You basically mentioned the possible sources, Sergemeister!

Take the hoses of the nipples and cap them... then perform the cannister-ectomy and make sure the tank can breathe... you obviously have a vapor lock somewhere, that will affect the TB's as well as these hoses are connected!

Should be an easy fix!

Find out why you're not venting properly, and THEN tear into additional mods.
Tearing into new stuff you don't understand when the basic stock stuff isn't even working is not a rational action plan. You might stumble across a fix, or you might (more likely) add more variables.

There are two overflows on the R1100S. One is the gas overflow just inside the flap when you open it. This basically dumps gas on the ground when you over fill it.
The second is the one that vents fumes to the charcoal cannister. If you're building up vaccum, that's the one causing it. Pull it off at the pump before the cannister and open the tank and blow back in it. You shouldn't hear bubbles because the plastic pillow shaped float should be above fuel level, but you should hear air coming back into the tank.
Hope it's not the fuel filter.....But if it is, consider an external fuel filter.

Yup, that's the answer I was lookin for. I need to do some fishing around. Roger, the canister was ectomy'd a while back, not by me but it seems that one or more of those lines wasn't routed properly (or is simply plugged).
