New member from San Diego

Hi, I'm a new guy from San Diego and the proud owner of a "nemo" colored R12S. In fact the bike used to belong to C. Dolan (thanks for never riding it! It only had 400 miles when I bought it) and was well taken care of.

The only mods I have done is added a set of hard luggage (I love to tour) but will probably add a Rapidbike and dyno tune it to remove that flat spot at the 5500 rpm range.

I do a mix of riding from touring (will be heading off to Arkansas this summer but I also do a lot of long weekend rides), canyons, and some track days (although not enough).

I was a lurker for a bit on this site as I was looking for a new bike (traded in my '06 Ducati Multistrada for this bike) and found a lot of good info here. I was always a big fan of the R11S and am glad that this bike continued the RXXS heritage!

Strangely, I think the hard bags actually "make it" on the back of that bike. Makes it look like a mean touring machine... I'd have to see in person to be sure.

Sorry, James. We've already got "enough" San Diego members. Maybe check back in six months?

Just kidding... Nice bike and welcome to the board!

How many of us are there from San Diego? Man, didn't know there was a quota...lol

thanks for the welcome.

Side note, where are some good places to find accessories for the bike? I have looked at A S cycles but where else should I look?

Are engine guards a good idea or do I not really need them?

...hold off on the engine guards... as I am developing some killer ones and will sell them at reasonable prices!

There are about 6 or 7 member form the SD area... some active, some not so... well, coming to think of it... Oceanside is not really San Diego now, isn't it?

Quota is 6, I just made it in there... but, Zimm has left the building, so that spot should become officially available soon...

Looks like my full HPE (under the sump pipes). No problem (obviously) with oil.

those bags are begging for a color-co paint job, those HPE headers look about 10000 times better than the stockers!

The low miles was timing as much as have a "few " other bikes to tend to.

Bike went straight to and was kept at the Palomar ranch location.

I had bought it just before the big fire up there.

The ranch and all the bikes up there survived, but riding was delayed due to fire damage and debris on the roads, as well as winter that came shortly after.

The R 1200 R that stayed in San Diego as a daily run around bike has almost 3000 miles on it.

The R 1200 S was a good ride as you can tell from the tires.

I set the suspension as best I could for a 230 Lbs rider.

It was sold to the dealer that I'm getting my HP 2 Sport from that will replace it.

Have some good miles on it.

yup, I know all this was wasn't saying it as a bad thing. I know you have hundreds of bikes and really am grateful that it came from your stable because I know it was well cared for and has few miles. Not meant as a slam at all.

I definitely will enjoy the bike!

The bags do look great on the bike!

FWIW, there's one less bike in San Diego now - the one I picked up last weekend.

For touring, I did 600 miles in one day on roads, from gridlock to Pacific Coast Highway, without any issues in one day riding my bike home.

Very cool and congrats!

I did a 600 mile day right after I bought the bike and took it up through the Ojai area. No problems at all and the bike was definitely all day comfortable.

Told you so.

They are the BEST bar none. ...BUT...no belly-pan possible (unless we gather and "torture" Julius - Note: Stunning Van Harten belly-pan not for road use according to Julius)
