Buggar!!

Our southern hemisphere members know the serious connotations of this phrase.

Well I decided it was time to install tha K&N air filter I purchased a while back, so off came the plastic, and out cam the BMW filter.

When I puled the filter, I was perplexxed as there was a lot of oil covered grime in the airbox, thinking something was not sealed tight so I began to look around the airbox, and found nothing, so I inspected the old element and low and behold, looks like somewhere along the way I sucked in a bug that tried to escape by eating a hole in the paper element.

Needless to say, this let some unfiltered air into the airbox. So some soap and water a stiff brush and a lot of shop towls later the air box is clean, and the K&N in place.

Guess this one will not be going 100,000 without a top end rebuild.

Ah, don't worry about it... the filter does not look like you are riding in an environment that would wreak major havoc on your top end, due to massive amounts of solid organic matter being sucked in!
