Omyfreaking1200ccgoodness
I test rode a R1200S at my local dealer.
Pulled the wheels in first gear effortlessly! Seriously. I'm a tame rider and I twist the throttle like I do on my R1100S but men that machine lept up ever so slightly under me. This was the first 1/8 mile after i pulled out of the dealership. I wanted to turn back around and just tell the guy, that he was right that i'd be impressed and it was definitely a difference over my R1100S. It definitely feels lighter too. Any other comparisons? I'm not sure if I want to buy another bike but I was wondering maybe swapping over a 1200cc engine from the '04 and earlier? Rambling but men I wanted to take that bike home! I rode the K1200R and it actually sounded like one of those jap bikes...not a bad sound. Nice wide power band. The R1200S still has the weak mid-range that my R1100S has but it was complemented with what I can only describe as a "SICK" top end and very torquey especially once you get it in it's powerband. On the highway route of the drive, it moved faster than I remember my R1100S ever being but I had the picture of the document I signed at the dealership a few minutes before in my head...something about being liable for any damages etc. So I didn't do go too fast especially for a bike I wasn't accustomed to.

How much mods short of a turbo or nitrous would it take to get close to that performance. I want to wheelie!!
Is the 1st gear transferrable? i.e. same trans?

Zeke, I am in the process of purchasing some of Lennies Cam Sprockets. If they do all I hope they will, I will be wheelieing in the near future, if they dont, I may be reconsidering one of the R-12's on eBay.

I may have to jump on that bandwagon but i'm thinking turbo. I've done a few diy mustang kits so we'll see.

I'll keep the R11 for the great daily and long-haul bike it is. Not to mention, it still gets some glances here and there too. If I really wanted something faster or sportier...i'd probably go in a different direction; maybe a jap as a second bike. The R12 is drool worthy but the #s aren't working in favor of trading the R11 because frankly, it's still in my opinion 80% of the R12 with arguably, a more natural curvature to it albeit less on the sports-fun factor.
