Regular Pit Bull stands for the R12S won't work?

I used to have the later > works on left/right paralevel layouts (K/R) but the main drawback is that the sum of multiple joints...ultimately... results to a "trembling"/not rigid thing.
Pay attention to the teflon add-on paralevel insert (a fantastic idea).

Pit Bull Stands will allow tire changes. If you want to get to the rear shock you can put the bike's footpegs on small car frame stands. If you have a cherry picker or hoist in your garage you can also hoist one end up by tie downs. Otherwise you're stuck with the BMW special service stand and to remove the front shock you'll still need to get creative.

![]() I saw Paul and Todd remove the front shock by removing the front Pit Bull, leaving the forks hanging. Very stable with the jack stands under the cylinders. This on an R12S, though. Should work on the HP2S.

Be advised! Remove as much of the CF as you can before slinging or lifting this bike! See the picture above.

Are the jugs really to be considered a weight bearing point on the DOHC? I want a real expert answer before I consider this option. It seems a bit shade-tree to me.

I wasn't bustin' on you ck.
Just wonderin' about the stability of the jack stands if you start removing parts from one end or the other.

That pic is of Nate's bike at VIR. The two guys doing the work are the real deal BMW mechanics from BMW Atlanta and a dealer in the Tidewater. Don't know if that's expert enough for you or not.

Man that's for sure, based on the different answers to the same question. There are a few who when they speak I listen but still I trust my dealer, just a I trusted Global and then BMW ATL. Relationships are important from both sides of this equation as well, the dealer always needs to be completely honest as does the owner of the bike and sometimes I pay a little more for security because I know my dealer will stand behind his work. Mt RT was sold in perfect running and cosmetic condition and I hope is still on the roads thanks to BMW ATL and their excellent and caring mechanics.

I worked with Paul at Jennings GP; but also noted the pit bulls on both ends.

This should not be hard to understand, but maybe I fail in explaining.
1. They lift the whole bike up using the Pit Bulls. 2. They put the jack stands under the jugs. 3. They took the front Pit Bull away leaving the front end hanging. 4. Then they pulled the front shock and changed the spring. If that isn't plain plain....I give up.

bob/jeff~
the stands in the picture work for me when i do it, but i've used that cool little red hydraulic jack to raise it up and then slide the stands underneath the cylinders (with some padding wrapped in shop rags). i'm guessing that jeff's bike won't allow that. when i load the bike into the van, i also set the stands in place under the cylinders. they're not there to bear any weight, they're in place for that just in case/just because scenario if the bike jumps loose of the tie-downs. disclaimer: i have a very ancient bike (boxer cup rep), but i think this system will work on your fancy new-fangled stuff. i also saw a guy raise his bike with a radically different system. it requires at least two, maybe three people to steady the thing as it goes up. google "fitball", an exercise ball that you inflate with your air compressor. (about $35?). pretty sturdy skin (i'd still pad it with some beach towels), and it's definitely a silly method and could be VERY dangerous, but it worked for him.... ![]() and yea, take off ALL the CF you can remove before you use any method. ...back to the shade under the tree...waitin' for benB/peter parts to bring the lemonade....

Jeff mentioned part of the reason he was looking for stands was to adjust the shocks on his HP2.
This brings up a question: when we buy our bikes new from the dealer (especially the 24k HP2), why doesn't the dealer go the extra mile and take our measurements and weight to setup the bike properly before delivery? Has anyone experienced this level of service? Wouldn't it make sense if they included it as part of that pre-delivery prep crap? |

jeff isn't adjusting the shocks, he's removing them for a few days to get re-valved and possibly re-sprung.

Yeah that too, for $24k you'd think the dealer would have options on Ohlins springs/valve at the time you order. Just a nit pick of mine.

![]() or with my EZ-Rizer which requires a BMW fixture which I have. Don't know if it would fit the HP2S but suspect it would.

not many dealers will do suspension re-valving. taint easy.
it's best left to the specialists, unless you want to see the parts washer dude send a shock through the ceiling. there's some nasty pressures and forces to be wary of when playing with boingers. setting sag is do-able, but i haven't seen anybody offer it. bobby might know more. the only thing i've seen lately is the solo sag setter. http://www.motocross.com/articles/article/news/20080522/asv_inventions_solo_sag_scale-12461.html
