Newb Introduction

Hey All,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I just joined the board and have recently joined the motorcycle world after 17 years.

I purchased a 2004 R1100 S with the technical help and prodding of a couple of friends. Ok, so I wanted the bike and I used their ideas as justification

Went on a decent ride into the city today and absolutely loved it. The only thing I've ever ridden was a dirt bike, and the difference is astounding! I wish I'd have known about this before I bought my car...I'd have bought the bike first

I posted a pic of the bike on the First Bike thread if you want to see it. I was kind of questioning the color at first, but it grew on me and I'm loving it now.

I guess I need to take some of the blame for that one. Just spreadin' the good word and doing my part in converting the world to two wheels.

Its a great choice, but I remember how strange it was to transition from the dirt to the street. It took me probably two years before I quit looking for berms to turn. Still not quite sure how these things turn so quick -- its dangerous I tell you. And get those elbows down!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
I've been riding everyday this weekend and, though cold, have had a ton of fun. I'm loving the street bike experience so far.

R111S, Brad and I have been talking about hitting a few of the rides lately. I haven't heard of the falling Leaf yet, but we're looking at the event in Crane, MO. I've been reading into a ride called the Tail of the Dragon...looks like fun, and will probably do that one this summer at some point

New at this

Hello everyone, I am new to this motorcycle bit. I need help deciding what kind of bike to get for my wife. Shes not a large woman, but shes strong! Kicks my butt anyway. Any ideas? We like to ride recreationally. Regards.

Welcome Neocryptica, nice bike. I have the same year and color. You won't find many who will admit it, but red really is the fastest . Or maybe it just looks the best... I always get confused on that one!

Do you need an official BMW touch-up paint kit for it? I have one I'll let go cheap.
