Damn! That was fun. Wet, but fun!

OK, who here was at Indy?

What did Dean write over at Superbikeplanet? The dry line was the one with no fish in it, right?

But the parking was easy and ample, there were plenty of places to watch, the crowd was friendly and appreciative (except Dani got boo'd), and the racing was exciting. Too bad the 250s were cancelled. Hopefully next year we'll get better weather. Thanks so much to the racers and the entire paddock for coming!

Nits:

- Indy should have people-mover buses circulating like Barber does. The place really is immense, and that would reduce the sore feet.
- The food sux. Really, any consultant could tell 'em how to upgrade from brats, burgers, and fried bread (aka pork loin sandwiches)

I was there. I'm almost dried out! It was great fun for sure. I briefly met EasyRider from the forum while I was stopped in traffic exiting the track. Other than that, I saw a few R11S's but no riders.

Ended up doing an Iron Butt ride on the way home. 1064 total miles. Overall, it was pretty easy although my tail was a bit sore as I have the stock seat with only a sheep skin pad.

As for the track I think it's definitely beter to watch MotoGP at Laguna. Not many viewing areas at Indy. I'd sure go back though.....

Not many viewing areas? But the track is surrounded by the biggest viewing stands ever seen at a track, man!

Diane and I were in the J stands, which were uncovered, but had a great view of of all the curves on the back end of the track, and the entrance to the front straight. Next year maybe we'll go for covered stands at the end of the front straight, see how that goes.

CRAP! I can't believe I missed you guys! I was in the J stands too! Do you recall and old white guy in a Hein Gericke rain coat sitting next to a young black man? We were bummed that we didn't meet up with other pelicans. But the party on Meridian was a good time!

I thought the seats in J were great, good visibility, plenty of passing action and real twisty. Much better than the straight-away.

And how about that qualifying session? Rossi just goes as fast as he needs to whenever he needs to.

Anybody else get a performance award on Rt70 outside the city?

Yes the covered seats in E-15 were dry for our crew of 30 fans. I want to go again next year too but I think Sunday races will be enough for me.

I agree the food unfortunately was awful...I had two Brats on Saturday for lunch and promptly got sick with diarrhea. OTOH, went to the Rathskeller downtown on Michigan Ave both Friday and Saturday evening for supper...mmmm schmecht sehr gut!

Here's a pic of our dry and happy race fans!

Racin in a hurricane. We left Cleveland and drove to Chicago BMW and picked up this...

...then drove down to Indy. Our tickets were stand A by t1. We sat there Friday and Saturday but after checking the infield out on Sunday we watched at t9 in the parking lot 15 feet from the inside wall. We could see 4 turns and part of the back straight. Even had our own big screen across the track until they took it down when Ike rolled through.

I saw one bcr at the flat track races at the fairgrounds Saturday night. Someone from here maybe?

Good job Flatty. Appreciate you helping out by creating that diversion.

Yup, pork-based. Served in a casing, which now many are synthetic, but 'real' brats use parts of the pig or cow to make the casing. Served like a hot-dog, on a bun. Some like them with onions. Best when grilled after being boiled in a cheap beer. Some prefer a brat to have a casing that snaps when you take the first bite, as the juices within are held inside best when that is the case. It probably sounds gross, but the real processing of any meat product does. They are delicious.

I was in Penthouse B. Was pretty dry and wind free throughout. Saw the whole front straight and turns 1-5 all the way out to where the airfence came undone. Friday night at the Rathskeller at the i-BMW table, Sat on Meridian, and Sun in Broad Ripple. Good times, and brought no awards home, unless a parking ticket in Morgantown, WV counts.

1600+ miles, top speed 98.5, good friends and some good times. can't wait to do it again.

ran into flatty and rod, geothepencil, loris capirossi, and some local beating his meat in the local food market parking lot.... WTF!

I watched qualifying at the very end of the H stands, great seat, I will probably buy seats there next year. Was lucky enough to get tickets in the suites overlooking turn 5 from work so I stayed mostly dry on race day. I scored paddock passes in the suite and managed to see Edwards, Hayden and Toesland in the the Paddock. Toesland signed my hat!

I'll get some pictures posted before too much longer.

PS. I only rode the S in on one day. The bags on the ST were just too handy for carrying in rain gear.

Cool

Clutch,"I saw one bcr at the flat track races at the fairgrounds Saturday night. Someone from here maybe?"

That would be me. I did get alot of looks at both places. It's just something magical about the bike. I saw two other BCR's at the main gate parking for the GP.
I sat in Stand E, sec. 20 row K. I didn't think we had cover when buying them but was gladly wrong after getting there.
