Push button starter - info sought
 

Was it motoyoyo's bike I saw it on? I dunno...

Somewhere I saw a push button starter, would appreciate linky's and thoughts? :)

One thought that comes to mind is security, ooh - just had another...cost?

I just went to bed and realised I asked the wrong question.

I meant, is there a button thingy that replaces the key, I thought I saw one somewhere shaped like the roundel...obviously there'd be some other sort of security device...

...so I guess I'm thinking about a twin button start for my twin or am I just going mad?

You may be thinking of some of the people with spare keys that have a big, round head on them with a roundel on it. It doesn't replace the ignition, it's just a key with a different head.

Personally, I've always found it to be rather stupid that some bikes don't need a key to be able to ride them (*cough* HD *cough*). Who the f came up with that idea?

Not sure I'd want to see bikes like some of the new cars, which only require the key to be in your pocket to be able to start them. EWS ring fault, anyone?

Not all that secure, of course, but what older bikes are? If you're willing to give up the fork lock, this is as secure as the BMW ignition switch (i.e., not).

Oh, but there is some precious comedy value you in it for you. Twice this summer I took a ride out into the boonies and pulled up for gas, only to find some leather clad accountant and his girlfriend in matching costume asking for a Bic pen to pick the lock on the gas cap. Sucks when you leave the house with a full tank and no key, and just drive until you need gas, but cant open the cap. :D
