Front Wheel Bearings R1200S

I have an odd mechanical clicking from the front end and have narrowed it down to front wheel bearings. They sound easy enough to replace from looking at other posts here. My question is in regards to the source for the parts. Are these a dealer only part or can I source them elsewhere that would be cheaper.

Thanks
Scott

I use All-Balls bearings. You can find them on ebay & other places, try google. Never had a problem with them & they're cheaper than most.

Boss bearing provided a good deal for my ktm, I think they sell them all. I put new bearings in the freezer and used a heat gun at a safe distance, and lightly tapped the bearings in place.

Hi,

My front wheel bearings are needing replaced.

Are all the makes much the same?

Or can I buy bearings with no friction and a 100 year warranty from some new-tech startup made from unubtantium and the blood of 12 year old virgins that will save me fuel and make me accelerate faster?

Cheers

Adrian

Consensus on another forum is that they are indeed low friction, but:
- the wheel bearing friction is a tiny part of the overall friction/resistance/drag that the engine pushes against
- bearing seals are what creates a lot of drag in the bearing and ceramics therefore use labyrinth seals which are not very effective at keeping out dirt in street conditions
- ceramic bearings are easily damaged from minute amounts of contamination

Conclusion: it's not worth buying them unless you have $$$ coming out of your ears.

Drag racers looking for every advantage use them. I've seen some scary prices on them too. For the street I can't see it.

I would just buy standard SKF or any equivalent good old steel bearing.

Cheers
