Part number for grommet
Hi guys,
I've searched and searched and searched but I cannot find the part number for the rubber grommet that the tail light assembly snaps onto. Mine is worn so it allows the tail light to flop around. I've called a few shops to try to order one and they werent able to find it either. So, do you know the part number for this? thanks, http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...e/DSC00253.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...e/DSC00254.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...e/DSC00260.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...e/DSC00261.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...e/DSC00262.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...e/DSC00263.jpg |
Most parts stores have generic Grommets in a vast assortment of sizes... I think I have some just like that, in a "saved goodies" box if you can't source one locally let me know and one will be in the mail.

Thanks for the offer! What kind of part store are you talking about?

Napa
|
Or HomeDepot...check their speciality parts bins in the hardware section.
|
Thanks guys I'll go check tomorrow.

My '99 doesn't even have such a part like that...why not just cut off that extra road hugging weight that's holding you back!:D

Thats the problem. These rubber grommets are all over the bike, underneath the fuze box for instance, but they dont appear anywhere in the microfiche. :( I'll just use hand signals.

Look under "license plate support" and there's a grommet there. But that grommet is apparently unique to that application.
Otherwise, it looks (in the picture) like the one for the airbox on the other R1100 models. But that's a different PN. |
My bad, it's NOT the same as the regular R1100 airbox mounts. But for whatever reason I have one sitting here on my desk. 14mm tall, 8mm ID, 18mm OD, 12mm slot diameter. Sound right?
BTW I can't see that little bit of wear affecting the way the light wiggles. There's supposed to be some looseness there to protect the bulb. |
Rotate the grommet 180 degrees so the wear is on the other side
|
I ended up rotating it and sticking some paper in there to reduce the wiggle. It wasnt just wiggling it was flopping around! Thanks again for the help guys.
