Consider Filling In Profile

I realize that I'm going to get a load of taurus excretum on this thread, but perhaps I can appeal to some reasons why filling in the profile can add to enjoyment, information, entertainment, cameraderie, etc. Just like reading a thread, it's of course optional.

I personally think it's not done most of the time as a result of forgetfulness; others I'm sure just want to maintain some degree of anonymity. Whatever!

What I find useful is where people live, their name, and what bikes they currently have. Anything else smells of competitive sharing.

I'm with Bob for the most part.
I never list bike's no longer owned (unless I'm behind on updating the profile) but do, like quite a few, list cars. Seeing others' cages has allowed me to ask questions on ones I'm repairing,or considering buying, etc etc. Guess old bikes could follow the same logic. Just too many to list for most of us. Also interesting to see what folks do, so I can understand the sentiment behind John's post as well.

On another board, as a result of the guy filling out his profile in detail, found out he's a nat'l trebuchet champion (not quite, but pretty much catapults), another was a Hurricane Hunter (I was a Typhoon Chaser in Pacific/sister squadron). But, IMO most just don't do it because they forget.

One of the reallly NICE things about this forum it's not so damn segmented that if you talk about tires you don't get thrown somewhere else. Lots of views, not many responses, which maybe a few got religion.

Iagree with Bob. Did I say that? Must be the new year. Where you are and what you're currently riding (or working on in the case of shreddr) is important to know. It gives perspective.

I'm so happy! They discontinued the Five Ten Mountain Masters about 2 1/2 years ago. Could not be found anywhere. I kept looking all over the net. Especially after a glass of wine I could really bore in and shop. No luck ever. They are important because they stick on the slick rock like no other shoe in the world. I tried the upgrade and it sucked (even wrote a compliant letter to the company - they didn't listen). But today, I just had a brand new pair delivered to my door... Just in time because I was starting to experience severe slippage with the old ones as they wore out.

It's the little things that matter...

Scroll to the top here where it says "User CP". Then look for Edit Signature and follow your nose. Being the "least of these", if I can do it, you can too.

Should you list right and left separately? I have a Labrador Retriever, so this has some relevance.

Oh yeah, signature updated.
