I have an 01 also... Did you check the basics? Bike in neutral kick stand up? Red kill switch centered? Can you hear the fuel pump run when you turn on the key? If so do you have power to the coil?

Most common problems are the wire breaking at the solder joint on the back of the ignition switch, and failed Hall effect sensor/wires. (trigger coil)

I'd put the hall sensor high on the list as well.

BMW Roundel Good Advice

Ahhh... The power of the PPBB Board!

Good advice.

The coils have also been known to fail. Check the signal to them.

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
