Anybody know how to mount/power a Sony2 to my BMW?

hey everyone~

i'd like to tap into the seemingly bottomless resources of members on this board to ask a technical question.

after more than a year of buying no upgrades for my R, i recently purchased, after a glowing recommendation from Sergio, a Sony2.
obviously, i want to mount it on my bike. it's quite possibly the perfect upgrade.

ralf also wants one to take with him on his alaska trip, jeff williams wants one for his HP2s (and one for his porsche), shredder is considering adding a Sony2 to his popular r1200s monster project, and i understand that PeterParts is so hyped up he's willing to drive over to Atlanta to get one from the distributor.

our question is: does anyone here know how to hard wire a sony2 into a bmw?

there are enough of us excited about the Sony2, just in the last few days, that it appears we have a very solid group buy in the works.

we just need a couple of technical answers.

please take a moment to help us.

if you're not familiar with the Sony2, the following will bring you up to date:

http://www.bradzimmerman.com/sony2.wmv

(i'll post pics as soon as i get mine! sergio has promised to do an installation video...i'm working with ralf on a sponsorship presentation to Sony to help with expenses on his alaska trip).

thanks again! as always, this board is an awesome resource for exploring exciting new products like this one!

Ah ha! See, what you failed to realize is that I actually have a NASA Approved rocket scientist friend currently working on the huge Martian RAPR (Remote AnAl Probing Rover). He's actually the one who programmed it that's why I recommended it to you. Suckers!!!

Edit: Installation Video may not be suitable for all audiences.

that puts a whole new meaning to the phrase "truth in advertising" I think I will hold out for the Sony3 because I don't want to deal with the teething pains of the first model year. i would hate to buy the unit and find out it wasn't the piece of $hit it was promised to be.

Thumbs up Sergio... there are prople under 50 on this board!!!!!

Greetings Brad,

Just to make it easier for all on the board with installation instructions:

Can Bus and non Can Bus can all be hard wired to the battery. Follow polarity and connect the negative lead last. On first installing it leave the moptor running for 2 hours to fully charge the on-board REC-LUCE battery

A quick disconnect connector should be considered to prevent theft.

That's it! Enjoy!

Greetings Shreddr,

Sony perfected it after beta testing the Sony1.

The Sony2 is just like the BMS-K ECU you can always re-flash it<> but once you do you can't go back!

Let's see what Ralf says!

Dude, what is even funnier is reading the text that scrolls along the bottom...

I damn near peed in my pants!

shred~
aw come on, you're an established "early adopter". the sony2 is perfect for you!

boxercup/robert~
i greatly appreciate the input and info, especially coming from a man of bleeding-edge data tech like yourself. good to see the ground swell of support for the Sony2!

ralf~
for me, to completely grasp the entire Sony2 concept, i had to watch the video twice.
once with the audio on, ignoring the scrolling text feed at the bottom of the screen.
then a second time, with the volume turned off, so i could concentrate on the vital information found in the ticker.

both ways, i'm sure you gents will agree, the Sony2 is very well worth considering.
no wonder it's this week's hottest internet storm!
(i hear that Dr. Curve invested heavily in the company stock a few weeks ago...damn him...always ahead of the curve!)

if you don't want to scroll back up to see the vid that explains the Sony2, here's an instant link repeat:
