The A-Arm doesn't look right:confused:

Jeff Williams 02-20-2009 06:16 AM

I have to admit thats beautiful looking stuff.
I remember about 4 years ago that a german company was making them and they had a problem cracking. But they were using old tech in laying the glass. Todays CF is so much stronger.

EZ-RIDER 02-20-2009 06:36 AM

The stuff looks really Cool,
I seen a program about the next X fighter plane, Boeing was in the fight they were making a Delta wing out of Carbon Fiber all the carbon fiber layers had epoxy already impregnated in the Fabric no mess with mixing epoxy etc just a
Vacuum Bag and Heat did the trick!
I wonder where you could buy the Material looks easy to work with.
When I ask about the BST A-Arm their was no thru- hole for the pivot
joint, Am I missing something here ?

signit98 02-20-2009 07:03 AM

The CF is as strong as it ever was, Jeff... the resins and the manufacturing technology has changed...

Tom, they probably have a setting for a bot-in setup on the A-Arm... would work just as well, looks cleaner.

All I have to say is DEAD SEXY

EZ-RIDER 02-20-2009 07:27 AM

I wonder what the price tag on the parts:confused:

squall_line 02-20-2009 09:43 AM

Great... I just started drooling and got pizza sauce all over my khakis... thanks. :p

'carbon fiber layers had epoxy already impregnated in the Fabric'

EZ, it's called 'pre-preg'.

the CF prepreg for the 787 is made by a company called Toray Composites and they have a large plant next to the Fredricksburg WA boeing plant.
I know someone there; when I asked about buying some 'that fell off the truck' he laughed hysterically. Seems there's a real shortage of the stuff and they need every sq.in. they can crank out.

I would love to replace 35 lbs of ugly fat with those babies.

IvanTT 02-21-2009 06:45 AM

Drooling here! Wow.
And what a history on the lady that does this. F1 Car composites!

shreddr 02-21-2009 07:18 AM

The pictures of these parts came right off the website, on the page I linked in the first post. These parts are probably some of the design engineers "portfolio" from previous projects, but there must be molds somewhere! If anybody is interested in purchasing them, I suggest you contact BST directly. Do I hear "group buy"?

EZ-RIDER 02-21-2009 07:26 AM

Well your the Master group buy guy

I am not sure about the A-arm, but the swingarm looks like it's for the R11S, I dont know if they are interchangable. I am pretty happy with where my bike is right now, although it would be interesting to know how much weight they save, because those are unsprung parts as well.

EZ-RIDER 02-21-2009 07:33 AM

I would like to see what the price would be ?

most expensive (what else?)

squall_line 02-21-2009 09:06 AM

I think the better question is, how can you afford NOT to put a lighter, stronger A-arm and swingarm on your bike? ;)
