Buying HP2 in LA, which dealer is better

HI Guys,

I'm in LA, and just going to buy a HP2 Sport. So far, I have been to two dealers, one is BMW of Hollywood and the other one is Long Beach BMW Motorcycle.

Although BMW of Hollywood offers a little better price, Long Beach BMW looks more "experienced in BMW motor".

Could anybody give me some advice on this?

Thank you!

Thanks Varmint. They looks pretty nice. However, a little to far from LA(Downtown)...
I might drop by if I have some time, but still prefer a close dealer.

have ambivalent feelings towards the hollywood shop. i try to keep smiling because they're six blocks from my house. and we need to live together. but it's getting irritating. EVERYTHING, even the simplest bolt has to be ordered. nothing is is stock. staff turnover is very high. and an unsettling number of the people working there don't speak english.

but they have passed two crucial tests. the things they've fixed have stayed fixed. something alot of places can't seem to do. and a few times when i've pulled in at 5 minutes before closing on a friday, the service manager has stuck around to diagnose, and even fix my problem. instead of just telling me to leave the bike and call in a week.

I wonder whether BMW Motorrad service are the same standard?

Long Beach one does have one on the floor(HP2 Sport, Really a good bike ), but It has already 15Miles on it. I wonder whether that's ok. Besides that, the price Long Beach offered is kinda higher(2k+, based on the quote they offered to me today, haven't do serious talking yet) than the one Hollywood offered.

BTW, anything special about westvalleycycle? price/services?

Thank you so much varmint.

The tech normally puts 10-15 miles on the bike bedding in the brakes and such after the pre-delivery service. I did my own and asked that I be the first rider just for yucks. NBD though. I'd go with where you feel more comfortable hanging out unless the price differential is sizable.

Save the $3K! You can have it serviced wherever you want. Are you getting ABS?

hollywood bmw just sent me some flyer for a may 3rd 30% off parts blowout and FREE TACO spectacular.

i only go to wet valley cycles for things like fluids and maybe to buy a pair of gloves. some speak highly of their service department. but i have no first hand experience.

There is something more to the story here, One must have ABS and the other does not, that will account for over $1k right there. A CA dealer willing to take $3k off the bike is essentially paying you to take the bike if they are identically equipped. Something is definitely up there, or maybe you're going to be able to cash in on one's lack of market in HP2S's.

Hard to believe there would be close to a 3K difference in price for identicle bikes-that's a huge difference on a motorcycle. Everything else being equal, buy the cheaper one, but make sure of what you're buying. Neither dealer has a great reputation as far as service is concerned.

Let me echo the comments above on being cautious.

As an aside, the most experienced dealer in the US as far as the HP2S is concerned is just above you in San Jose.

If you are going to depend on the dealer for almost all your service and maintenance then go with the one who you have the best relationship with. If you, like a lot of the members here prefer to work on the bike yourself, and will only see the dealer when "required" then by all means find the best deal, 3 grand is a lot of scratch. I passed on a legit offer to buy an HP2 for $18.5K so deals are out there.
