Need a parts list for R12S bag install.

I scored a new set of BMW bags on the German eBay for a near song. They don't come with screws or lock cylinders, but do come with the pads. I already have the mounting bracket and the two large bolts that require drilling the rear panels. That's all I have. I don't know what else I need to mount these bags. I'm pretty sure I need some screws, but don't know how many or which ones are which on the parts microfiche. Anyone have a definitive parts list I can use, maybe a photo thread?

If I'd have seen this yesterday when my bike was 'sans' plastic, I could have taken loads of pictures for you..

I put it all back on last night though.

You've got the bracket that goes over the top of the subframe that the long bolts go into, have you got the black frame that sits underneath the subframe that they rest on?

Photos of what you have might be an idea - than I can have a look at whats on my bike.

Rick, I have the brackets on and the bags in the garage ready to snap-on, put on by BMW Scottsdale while I was busy at work. Want to come over and see how they look, sometime?

I'd love to. Where in Phoenix are you? I don't want to remove your rear panels, but I'd like to see how this mounting bracket attaches in the rear and what screws and bolts I'm missing.

I would guess you need:

71607699078, mounting parts (hardware) case holder. This will come with extra mounting pins you already have in your pics, but you need the hardware.
71607680840, set of screws, support
71607699073, brace. It isn't in your pictures.

I posted installation instructions here.

If they don't work out for you, I am sure at least one of us would buy them from you (hint hint!).

I had the pins powdercoated gloss black. I think it looks a lot better that way and minimizes how noticeable they are. So far it's holding up pretty well under minimal use.

I can't find photos of these on A&S or Max's site.

078 and 840 are bags of hardware. 073 is part 3 in the first link above. You can order them from Chicago BMW for 20% less than A&S or Max. They will not show the discount on their website, but it is there and will appear on your bill.

Very cool. Looks like I do need #4 in the first link. Sure wish they had better images of the screws than just some cube or block. I could probably find or make them if I knew exactly what they are.

Did you read the installation instructions I posted? Some of the fastener sizes are called out with the torque values, assuming you wanted to buy your own hardware and try to save some $$. I would just use the BMW hardware however.

Also, use either a hole saw (18mm I think) or a forstner bit to drill the holes in your fairings. Regular drill bits will be hard to get good clean, round holes.

Hey Rick,
You don't need part #4, it is already installed under the seat, it is what the large stainless mushroom pins screw into. Seriously all you need is 2 small bolts and washers that mount the rear part of the rack to the subframe on bike, you have EVERYTHING else you need. In fact looking at the excellent instructions JonM posted it list these as M6x20 bolts, I would just go to a hardware store and buy them for about 45 cents a piece. I know I used those same instructions when I installed the rack the first time. Give me a call if you need more info. Just don't want to see you order anything you don't need.
Cheers,
Robert

Bags arrived Sat. Box was damaged, but the bags look unscathed. Should have my special bolts and locks from Chicago BMW later in the week and then will get this installed.

Take pics and post please. No offense taken, but I am guessing you don't need to see mine anymore for this.

Running around yesterday, I saw the first R1200S besides mine on the street, ever (transitioning AZ 101 to AZ 51), and it even 'twas the same red/silver mine is, too. He waived at me, and I waived back, but I have no idea who he is, yet as both of us were wearing white modular helmets and they were closed up tight.
