Built in Radar Detectors

Anyone done a hidden or built in radar detector setup on an R11S? Got pics or recommendations of what worked for you?

I velcro'd a Passport to the inside of the bodywork on the right. The shape of the bodywork forms somewhat of a shelf if I recall. I could get to it to turn it on and off but it's better if you hook it to a switched wire.

PS.....you obviously need some type of repeater so that you get the warning.

don't the detectors need to be exposed to the signal? I thought if you put it under bodywork it gets shielded. If thats not the case I am gonna try something, i've got some buzzard advocating LEO's after me.

The signal is attenuated to some extent, but you still get pretty good warnings. All but the laser of course. If you had metal bodywork it would be attenuated quite a bit more, but the plastic is fairly transparent to a radar signal.

GMD Computrac , in Jasper,GA sells a radar, laser detector setup that is hidden. All you see is a light on your dash. For more info call; 706-253-1148 or e-mail @ gmdatl@etcmail.com They do suspension on all types of bikes including Nate Kern's and other racer's. They sell Ohlins,Penske and Hyperpro that I know of and service them as well. They are great folks and work on all my bikes as well. :)

I'm running a Whistler motorcycle unit.

It has a round 2 1/8" display with remote receiver mounted under the oil cooler. A blue led can be mounted any where, mines next to the unit for night time alerts. Daytime alerts I use the wireless headset display, which is a red led on a flexible stalk. It works well, only problem experienced is a false laser when I hit 6K rpm's. Whistler hasn't been able to fix it, I believe I need to decouple it from vibration sources.
