plastic shopping bags on the feetsies make it alot easier to slide into a wetty and much easier if the wetty is still wet, though your not a man until youv'e fallen over in the car park at the surf beach whilst trying to get your legs through a wet wetty...lol...might be the same for the one piece leathers, maybe someone could try...

While at the high end of your price range, Aerostich Darien jacket and pants can't be beat. They are made (in the USA) to last practically forever and I've experienced riding temperatures from 40 - 105 without issue. Check out the "sale" section of their site for items with slight imperfections, etc. That's where I bought my set roughly 6 yrs ago. They're still going strong.

I think this is important enough to think about ...

Once a year Roadracing World magazine has a special issue covering rider equipment. Yes, it's racing oriented, but rider protection off the track is surely just as important and the same principles just as surely apply.

They of course mostly assume one-piece suits, but for two-piece suits recommend strongly that the jacket and pants be able to be attached to each other. If not, perhaps your pants will just pull off (down) as you slide down the road during an off. What's to stop that?

I've worn BMW Airflow suits for more than 15 years and of course the jacket and pants can zip together. Surely some less expensive brands offer this as well.

Another vote for Tourmaster. I recently bought their Transition 4 waterproof jacket for $215 and the waterproof overpants for $149 on Revzilla.

BTW, these can be connected together in the back at least.

If you don't mind going into the resale market, advrider/gear has some great deals for those patient enough to watch the forum daily. I've been both a buyer and seller for various gear items and have been impressed with the honesty of all those with whom I have done business. Requires a free registration to view the "for sale" forum.

RGB2CMYK,

Watch Craigslist and Fleabay for gear. i've picked up several jackets and pants very reasonably. Joe Rocket stuff, despite the corny name isn't bad. Tourmaster again, too.

I use a separate 2 piece rain suit. It serves twofold, emergency cold weather windbreaker as well.

The jackets proving to be pretty dang versitale. Pants are on the way.
Best gear ever have been Rukka AirVision for me.
Those are up for sale I guess, instant creedo...
