R11S Spotting-Australia

I have been in the Land Down Under for the past week. Kalgoorlie for most part, but drove down to Perth as the starting point for the trip home.

Spotted a silver 11S on Hill just off of St Georges headed toward the waterfront park. Sporting Staintunes me thinks. Twas that anyone we know here??

First time to AU, great country....will post some pics later......

Nice stuff Mr!

Did you rub some of that Kalgoorlie dirt into your palms? Had a mate working there as a Policeman for three years and I never got there - slack!

Some great shots there

I've seen this expression before

Hope it wasn't too hard for you to understand the lingo. Were you here for the Gold? ie) to do with mining?

I am in Perth and are you here long?

Not many 1100S around here

This is a Guzzi rider kissing my tank before I released my spare petrol container for him down near Denmark 2 weeks ago. Lol -hard to find petrol on a night ride in this area. Left Perth 11pm and got into Lake King at 12noon.

Ungreatful bunch really those Guzzi riders

Toodyay is a good day ride from Perth many bikes will be at the Coke a Cola Cafe there tomorrow.

I guess you are back home if not I would catch up.
In the mining area and do work for the superpit in Kalgoorlie from time to time

Ohhhhhhh. The Lemans 1100 (If I'm correct). That's the bike I named my cat after ("Guzzi").

Is that how they say "hello" in Australia? Nice people over there.

Lol you want to see him after a few beers, thats his polite finger!

The bike is an 1100 Sports not sure of the proper designation but he tells me only 250 made and it is four valve heads and Goldline Brembos plus more goodies. Only 14,000kms form new in 96 hence hadnt worked out fuel range.

I rode it for a while and quite a differnt bike to the S which is much easier bike to turn in and ride. You would develop muscles to ride the Guzzi but what a nice bike.

Mike has a Lemans MKIV and a BMW GS 800.

MY RS and the Lemans at My Magnet

And The Gs and S at WA South Australian Border in August 2009

Sunrise on the Road Yalgoo to Mt Magnet

Hope you like our country pics

It's a dream but I'd love to take three months to pass ride down under and motorcycle why way around the island continent. I'd get away from the larger cities and see some of the stations.

We had ridden all night through below 0 degees C and down to 60kph as Kangaroos were everywhere. We had just lost 90 mins waiting for daylight as could not safely go on with amount of roos. We had to abandon Fred 67yold whos Bionic eye lenses had gone opaque due to the cold and he was effectivly blinded at Walpole. (Intraocular lenses)

We left him at the side of the road and thought if he stared into the sun long enough they would come right!

Mikes fuel stop cost us about 80kms to get supplies from Denmark. So we did 13 hrs to get to our destination.

Sure enough Fred (AKA Blind Freddy) got into Lake King 3 hours late! A great effort in the circumstances.

This was a hard ride and we wont do it at night again too risky.

Yes, back home. Our Perth adventure was unplanned. We finished up our business in Kalgoorlie a bit early so instead of hanging there for two days waiting for our flight to Perth we decided to drive down and resume our trip home from there. Must say that we saw lots of motorcycles headed out of Perth toward Kalgoorlie and precious few places to stop for fuel. Get away from the populated areas and desolation sets in very quickly.

Great people, friendly...no real issues communicating past the usual colloquialisms that need a bit of explanation. Funny how everyone said that we were the ones with the accents....

[QUOTE=Tirebiter;4944954]Since you asked.....

Perth waterfront property....

I helped build that apartment block on the left of the photo.
The Red Bull Air Race uses the park in front as the airstrip during the event. After having several days of the planes taking off directly in front of me, and watching their stunt practice, and the FA18 demo practice on the Saturday, I felt no need to join the throngs that attended on the Sunday. We did let the workers bring their friends and family along to have a picnic and observe the race from the still incomplete (at the time) building.

On my commute home on my R1100S, I came up to another R1100S in traffic on Friday, a rare event in Perth. I briefly stopped beside him and said "You don't see many of those in Perth".

Is either yours or the other R11S silver in color with aftermarket exhaust?

BTW...I can see where that park would have made an excellent venue for the air races....would have loved to have seen them there. Wild that you had a part in constructing that building too...

Not mine I did see an Orange one last week at the Kardinya Shops and the BMW dealer had a BCR for sale a few weeks ago.

Saw a Silver one going down Scarborough Beach Road about four Months ago with modified exhaust so this is probably the one that you saw Tirebiter with laser exhaust.
It confirmed to me the 1100S would be my next bike when I heard and saw it.

Very scarce in Perth are the 1100S.

If it was the Long Weekend that you were travelling to Perth on the Ulysses Club had an event out in Kalgoorlie and we were heading South to Denmark and Lake King as part of the FarRiders series.

I like the remoteness once out of Perth.

Been seeing some pics of USA on the forum and some great rides to be had.

Mine is red with Remus. The silver one I saw on Friday, seemed to be stock.
