Roger, Get Well, but dont come back!

BMW Atlanta 12-31-2009 07:17 AM

One of his best buds is taking over the helm, same line just out of a different mouth most likely

roger albert 12-31-2009 12:16 PM

Honda before Kawi

jduke 12-31-2009 03:26 PM

+1 for Honda. They have too much pride in their technology to let BMW win by default.

What???

jduke 12-31-2009 04:51 PM

I was agreeing with Roger that Honda would come back to AMA racing before the other UJM factory teams. I think they consider themselves more of a world class tech company to let BMW walk in to 2010 AMA racing and get all the attention. I think they walked away as much because of DMG but the financial situation that gave them the cover they needed.

Highlander179 12-31-2009 05:07 PM

When did BMW announce they were racing in the AMA?

jduke 12-31-2009 05:26 PM

Just a rumor. I heard a couple of former UJM teams without factory support were talking with BMW about what kind of support was available.

Highlander179 12-31-2009 06:05 PM

state your rumor kind sir

jduke 12-31-2009 06:19 PM

Jeez Highlander, I didn't know we had to notate each and every rumor we post....I get about every motocycle magazine printed, read most online mags, and have many friends at various levels in the industry. I'll try and collect signed afidavits before posting any other "rumors" I get. Right now I'm heading out for some New Years Eve partys. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

Highlander179 12-31-2009 06:30 PM

yea, I figured you were full of it.

JonyRR 01-01-2010 11:08 AM

YAY!

Thank <insert diety here> that friggin' bonehead is down the road. (maybe the real health issue is enough people were mad enough at him to assist him with some lead poisoning:) )...just kidding..

but seriously, hopefully some sanity has started to prevail and a long road back to respectability has started for professional road racing in the US...

I thought one of the rumors was that Mlladin was gonna race a BMW in AMA. And then I heard he decided not to. And wasn't there this, and other chatter on this forum about BMW in AMA? Could have had another one of those senior moments but I'm pretty sure that's what I heard. I have no other sources but I sleep well.

Highlander179 01-01-2010 01:33 PM

The Mladin rumor was for SBK, and only lasted until he was asked, in which, he declined. If you go back a month ago, there were also Micheal Jordan and Team Hammer rumors, both of which went with Suzuki.

But what do I know, jduke is the one with his ear to the ground.

Bob Hancock 01-01-2010 01:37 PM

Well you're probably right. I don't care enough either way to look it up, so we'll just go with your recall.

sgoodwin 01-02-2010 07:21 AM

I haven't attended an AMA event since the idiots made the Superbike races a side show. I couldn't believe they ran 600's in the Daytona 200, we were all sitting in the stands going WTF when they first did it. Guess we should of read the program earlier. Can't wait to see if the "new" crowd wakes up and returns some glory to the racing again.

Bob Hancock 01-02-2010 07:27 AM

I thought the same thing when I saw DuHamel won on his 600 Honda. But I heard it was a problem with tires. They don't have tires that will stand up to Daytona and a liter bike. Maybe that's no longer applicable?

The smart solution would have been 3 mandatory pitstops... Instead, thye went with minibikes.

Agree, George. I wanna see the big dogs fight. Besides, pitstops can be a fun part of the action for us spectators.
