Agree 100%, ck. I personally only know one guy who can really play. The talent thing is there for him.....wish I could say the same thing for self.

You blokes have a helluva collection of beautiful axes; some nice pianos and a cello, also. I'll have to take a photo of my Tele and Ibanez Ragtime acoustic to post here.

MaineRoads, don't buy any guitar without playing it first! If you're not confident, take an experienced friend. A second hand 'name' guitar isn't guaranteed to be good. It may have been abused, be warped, have any number of issues that may cost a lot to fix - it may never have played nice 'out of the box'. Even some 'name' guitars just don't work from new. Play the guitar, listen to its tone, its feel, its playability. Is it in tune all the way up and down the fret board? Do the harmonics ring true and sweet? Does it feel nice in your hands? There are some great 'cheap' guitars out there.

........just bought it......Epiphone Les Paul Standard plain top Honeyburst.

Very small price for a surprising good quality, finish and sound.
I play it along with a Roland Cube 30X....... just for practising at home ......after a 24-year recess. Back in my youth I played an Ibanez stratocaster clone (just for fun) and a Fisher Trombone (good enough for a bigband and even a small tv appearance).
Being away from music for 24 years gives me a hard time now. Have to learn everything new. But it's still fun and I'm glad I had the guts to start it.
