Triple Crown Update.
hi all,
Well I just got back from a vacation and have had a talk with brad. We talked about what we were trying to accomplish and what was the results. The good part: great riding, solid friendships, no Mort , photos, memories, food, a solid core group. The bad part: the economy that took its toll on riders and host, not adhering to basic rules of a ride,(set routes, paperwork filled out, people leaving w/o letting other riders know), crashes,(no one permanently hurt). So this year we are looking to do a short schedule of rides. They have not been set as of yet. By the end of January the dates should be set. rides, Central coast,(host me), Santa Cruz,(Mad Otter maybe), others to be named at a later date. Triple Crown Riders; your imput would be appreciated as to lighten the load of the host, where to ride, and how to deal with the rules of the ride,(the pace, liability, loss of concentration of riders) thanks, Jeff Williams TC preride Class of '04 ![]() Just a sign of my appreciation ![]()

Let's ride!
Not sure where the dividing line will be set, but my favorite local (Santa Cruz) roads are the ride up Hwy 9/35 to Alice's and places farther, and Hwy.25/Lonoak/Carmel valley Rd. Oh, and 198 from San Lucas to Coalinga is a beautiful, high speed sweeping run!
But my all-time BEST road has got to be HWY.58!!!! and some of the off-shoots.... Whatever, I'm in unless it's a REALLY good ski weekend! ![]()

Had a great time on the AZTC ride last year. I hope to make it to CA this year for a ride. I miss my native state.

Maybe a Chinese Firedrill type of setup. Short notice. An example would be a notice on Thursday that we ride on Saturday, meet at Jeff's house for breakfast and off we go.

I'd personally favor something with less traffic...

Not necessarily, Garret... Central Coast, AZ, Yosemite... even down here, like that. I am just saying that - if we include something new - we ought to keep that in mind.
DS rides would not be bad either...

Depending on scheduling I'd be interested in making one of the TC rides this year. I'd definitely be willing to contribute monetarily where needed to help a hosts financial burden. A home base hotel would also be a good option.

No doubt, that was (Scooter's brief geographical misalignment notwithstanding) certainly one of the better rides.

Jeff, lay off the bear hugs for a long while... Bingo's in a world of hurt if he's going under the knife again!

OK,
here is what we've tentatively got. Three open rides, with a modified no host policy that was talked about last year,( I'll review it in a few days for you). Santa Cruz, Lake Isabella Central Coast or lake Tahoe We will have one closed ride to be announced at a later date,(its already known but i need to talk to the host). The dates are yet to be set, but the lake Isabella ride will probably be in Aug. as its high up in the mountains. The closed ride will be at the end of Sept,(thats a hint). The closed ride is for anyone who has ridden in a Triple Crown ride. more to follow jeff pre tc ride with a low hp ride ![]() ![]()

Another Tahoe ride would be cool.
the one I was on was the best vacation I've had in years (considering my LAST vacation was recovering from a near-fatal heart attack )

Like BigRed455 said.......a home base Hotel or Motel would be a big help for people who don't already live out in California. A specific site to start from and return to is a big help when coming from far away.
