Ignition switch reassembly help needed

99 r1100s, 126,xxx miles

After Looking up an old thread about the fading clock syndrome, (I already checked the fuse) I decided to pull out and clean the electrical switch that is connected under the ignition with a small set screw.

After removing the wire and plastic cylinder, I halved the plastic at the clips, but was holding it upside down when a few brass pieces fell out. Unfortunately I have no idea how the assembly should be put back together and was hoping someone here has done so or could advise me.

Thanks in advance.

Best to observe any wear marks on the pieces - these are your best clues to what lays against what.

Rotate several times after re-assembly. Also check for proper continuity function in the 3 positions before remounting on the bike.

Since it's just a few pieces you've only got a few possible mis-assemblies before you hit on the correct way.

Lastly - if it feels wrong then don't force it - be gentle.

I have the exact same issue as coffeeguy did. Bits fell to floor, I have them all, but need help with reassembly. Does coffeeguy or anyone else have pics of the assembly of the ignition switch?

Thanks!

I wound up test fitting all the pieces until I had something that made the most sense. I wish I would have taken a photo of the completed setup. I don't think it was particularly difficult, but honestly I don't remember.

Nice, thanks. I was able to put it back together. I regret no taking pics though, may have been helpful.
