42.

It's the answer to everything, after all...

There should have been a plate or certificate, otherwise, search for "BCR VIN Decoder", which should net some additional results.

wouldn't the last 4 numbers of the VIN be the answer?

Did you ever contact BMW N/A or a dealer to run down your serial number? Or, perhaps do that VIN check against the MicaPeak registry to see if there was any information posted there by a previous owner of your bike?

Anyway, if it works the way it did for the 2003 models, you'd just need to find two or three '04 BCR owners to do a verification check that the VIN numbers and BCR serialization XXX of 300 built, are in sync.

For example, here's the string of '03 VINs that my bike (#156/200) falls in:

153 WB10432A73ZB52921 41026938
154 WB10432A93ZB52922 42026908
155 WB10432A03ZB52923 41026939
156 WB10432A23ZB52924 41026940
157 WB10432A43ZB52925 41026935
158 WB10432A63ZB52926 42026934
159 WB10432A83ZB52927 46026961

I tried to call BMW, the phone number has been down for some odd reason?
I used the Voin decoder and it gave me a couple of different numbers. Does the series state the production #?
my vin is as follows:
WB10432AX4ZB53322
