what the heck does he have in that bike anyway? man he has a lot of power there.

KMoore 05-02-2010 05:21 AM

very disciplined ride, even with the bit of argy barge near the end. Looks like he had to get some help to get out of the pond. :)

I enjoyed the moto2 race. Must have been close to 40 bikes on the grid and pretty close racing.

flatbutt 05-02-2010 04:26 PM

guess nobody watched?

AZ-Twin 05-02-2010 04:29 PM

I watched.

What happened to Spies, didn't see it on Speeds great coverage.

The announcer said a front tire issue.

Good race for Lorenzo. Looks like Rossi could mostly stay with Pedrosa but not pass him. I wonder if it was his injury holding him back.

Nicky looked good. Finally getting the machine sorted for him. For him to come in ahead of Stoner is quite a statement.

The Moto2 race was awesome!! I think I will follow that instead of GP, at least its close and competitive!!

Although it was good to see Nicky Hayden finish near the front!

macfly 05-03-2010 05:43 AM

The racing was good, but it didn't have me on the edge of my seat the WSB.

I agree with the Moto2 sentiment... any time you can watch 7 racers duke it out for 1st for most of the race, it's worthwhile watching. There was some INCREDIBLE show of passion and riding skill there...

In MotoGP that was only matched briefly when Lorenzo and Pedrosa went at if for 2 laps towards the end...

I told Mike Kelly that the top three would be Lorenzo, Rossi and Pedrosa. Had Lorenzo picked as winner but Rossi could pull for second. He seemed to be using his right leg a lot more to stabilize the bike during the turn-in's. That had to be adversely affecting his lap times. The Ducati's just don't seem to have the drive out of the turns to be front runners.

Sure it does... that's why they do it, they want to slow down...

It was just interesting that Rossi was using it much more than I've normally seen him in the past, Ralf. I do understand drag as related to aerodynamics. He didn't have the drive out of the corners that you see from Rossi on the 46 bike for some reason, therefore he could force Pedrosa into making a mistake as Lorenzo did on the last lap. Yes, you can say that it was inevitable given the speed of the 99 bike in the final laps. The last lap was some good viewing IMO.

I just watched the race, as much as I hate to admit it, WhoreGay will probably take the title. It sucks that Spies had to pull off, it sounds like he is still struggling with the front end grip of the MotoGP bike.

flatbutt 05-06-2010 07:15 AM

It's simply amazing, to me at least, that he has that much more power than the Ducs.

He had a bad front tire.

Did anybody see this explanation of how Lorenzo took 2 seconds out of a strong Pederosa in just a few laps?

Well if the tc issue is valid couldn't it also mean that Dani doesn't have the skill needed to ride without tc?

after 20 laps full tilt and leaning on that TC I am sure the malfunction must be a real kick in the crotch, it probably takes the brain a few laps to start accomodating, and then there is the fact that Lorenzo had TC still working. If riding without TC was an advantage nobody would have it.

flatbutt 05-08-2010 06:15 AM

fair point. I'm no racer so I'm just guessing.
