Children play while oldies reminisce

The Lizard has been sold and the replacement sits beside, quite unknowing of what horrors it is facing. I suppose if the Lizard could talk, it would be telling the youngster to run away. Behind is Bubba, quietly competent and perhaps happy to wait for the next commute to work or tour of the Barry Highway up from Lakes Entrance in Victoria or a cruise around NSW or Queensland. Inside is Oscar and Willie, they might be mulling over days past. They'd probably mention how soft the kids have is nowa-days.

Mods to the Lizard

Mods to the Lizard were;
Y-piece fabricated by a local shop from spare R1100S headers pipes and pieces of the old Cat.

Single silencer, from the same local shop

6 pot brakes from a Hayabusa

Modified the induct to remove the sharp bend by grafting in a portion of a 70mm storm drain PVC pipe.

Shortened the stock brace by 30mm (5mm shorter than a GS brace), and swap final drive from the standard to that from an R1150R, shorter gearing (higher numerically) for the short track I was normally ride on.

A reduced wiring loom with only a tach and volt meter. The Motronic module was relocated to the right side of the forks, the left side terminal box contained only one relay, two things I can't remember what they are but were necessary, and two plug connectors.

The only other mod was a Digital Fuel Optimiser

I expect that the new victim will suffer some modifications although I'll have to work through the barriers put up by the Can-Bus system for electrical mods. So far I've ordered an Akrapovic system and will follow with either a PCIII or RB3 with a quick-shifter package. I hope to have the time and wherewithal to do dyno runs before and after every power mods but time will tell if that actually happens.

I'm got to fit that in with work to get Oscar back on the road (the fuel line needs resoldering and a period headlamp fitted), and Willie needs a new bearing race on the chair, along with a good check of all other bearings before I actually try to start it for the first time in 34 years. One hurdle on Willie is behind me, the original Dunlop clincher tyres have been replaced by new repos.

Jim

Nice pics Jimbo!

There's something weird about that shed - are you left handed? The circular saw tells me you ain't but I dunno, I can't put my finger on it, has your missus been in your shed? There's alot of tucking away and stacking going on

Hey, can I have your silver rear seat cowl since you're gonna be cutting back on stuff for the track anyway? While you're at it I may as well dibs the side covers too.

Ah yes, I remember now, that is what the Lizard used to look like, plus all the unnecessary weight it used to carry around.

Left handed? Ummm, no?? Granted, it is a weird shed but I've got the best view of the Gulf of St. Vincents from the driveway so the weirdness doesn't bother me that much. As far as stacking, the only way I can fit stuff into my tiny shed is to use all the space and keep things stacked.

Lets talk later about the bits that fall off the new one.
