My right fork tube joint leaks

Hey there, my right fork tube is leaking. The area where the top fork plunges into the lower fork is humid with some fork oil. Does anybody have a tutorial about changing fork joints ?

Replace both fork seals and both dust covers, or else you'll be in there again soon. Fully compress the fork before sealing up the bleed hole, then extend them to install.

by the way can I still ride safely until I get the job done ? I'd rather not ride a regular bike with not enough fork oil, but with the wishbone suspension on the beemer, it's not that obvious.

Yes. Wrap a rag around the leaking fork seal until you can fix it.

You can access the fork seals without removing the front wheel or lower fork legs. First you will need a secure stand that will raise the front wheel off the ground slightly and remain stable while working on the bike. Don't go any farther if you can't do this step.

Remove the two main body panels. Loosen the two pinch bolts on the top clamp and handlebars. If you have low bars remove the alignment bolts. Push the fork legs up 1/4" and remove the ring clips on the top of each fork leg. Slide each fork leg down and out of the top clamp and remove handlebars. Wrap a rag around each fork leg and slide them up and out of the lower fork legs. Holding the rag at the fork seals and sliding the upper fork out will kep any extra fork oil from spilling.

You now have full acces to the fork seals. There is a circlip retainer that needs to come out before the seals can be removed. Be careful not to scratch the inside surface of the lower leg while prying out the seals. Replace both seals and dust wipers on both legs like Anton says. Check the manual for an exploded view of the parts for reference.

No need to add or change oil usually unless dirty. Be sure to remove the top bleed screw (looks like schraeder valve) after completion to remove any extra air pressure.
