really dumb vibration question

When my R1200S is idling, the mirrors vibrate quite a bit - 1/4 to 1/2 inch flapping up and down. With a slight increase in RPM, the vibe instantly and completely goes away. Moving at any speed, the mirrors are rock steady.

I thought and have been told that this is "normal". Didn't like it, but accepted it. However, I just rode with two other R1200S's and neither of them had any mirror vibe at idle.

All the tupperware seems tight but I'm going to have a good look today. The vibe occurs with either the stock windscreen or the Puig.

I'd like to avoid a situation where the bodywork cracks in a few years (or tomorrow) due to repetitive vibration.

Anybody have anything to offer on either the "normalcy" of the vibration or where I might look for a cause and solution?

Thanks for your patience.
Ian

Their idle must be above normal. My mirrors do the dance and it stops if I raise the rpm 200 or so. At normal idle, the mirrors shake.

Yep, mine shake also.........it's been that way on the twins for 40 years.

Mine shake too at idle. As soon as I crack the throttle open a bit they are steady.

Thanks. I just didn't want to overlook an "obvious symptom" if there was something I should be doing.

when i see my windshield vibrating more than usual, it's time for a TBS. likely the same for your mirrors.
