				New Tail-light causing Master Caution

I had a new tail light assembly that was suggested by my local BMW dealer installed. Light is the E-code model sold widely on Ebay and which is a direct replacement for the F600CS/R1100S unit. Problem: After installation of the unit, it causes a Master Caution light with a code of "tail light failure". Can any of my

R1100S brothers help me with this? The seller claims no knowledge and the dealer is at a loss! I am into this now for the delivered cost of the light ($103) + installation. Thanks & Regards |

The LED doesn't have enough resistance in it . If you and a resistor the warning light will go away, but I don't know what the ohms should be.

I guess it fit only two of the three requirements for a part to be a suitable replacement for an OEM part. Two of the three "F". Form and Fit but not all the Function.

I bought a flashing LED replacement bulb for my F650 and it stayed on "brake" at all times. Had to do with the moronic, er motronic?

Anyhoo, my dad got a nice bulb for his Thruxton for Father's Day. I have the Hyperlites on all the bikes now instead.

I have the same light, I think.... LED with smoked screen. replaces the entire stock brake lamp assy.

It was easy plug-n-play for me, 20 mins. to swap and ready to go! Much brighter than stock, looks great too... My turn signals want a 10 ohm resistor each side to keep from flashing too quick, but the tail light didn't need anything. sorry, guess I'm not much help after all.....

You may wish to call these guys. They have (i can't see it on the site) a modulator that allows LED's (and allows the option of a flashing brake light). I think its cheap. They also have a LED kit for the R1100S, but that doesn't help you now..
