Should We Get an HP2 Sport Forum
Since the K12S has its own forum, should we have an HP2 Sport forum?
Let us know if you are a HP2 Sport owner in your reply. ![]() Last edited by Guest24; 09-11-2008 at 04:51 AM.. |

Right...
![]() You can request any forum you would like though. Our r1100/r1200s forum has had 17,987 threads with 275,540 posts within those threads. We are the #4 forum here following the 911, off topic, and 911 parts for sale. The K1200s forum has had 193 threads with 2,062 posts since it's inception 5/19/04. I'd expect a forum for a variant of the r1200s would have substantially fewer threads, perhaps only 10% of the K1200s forums total if that...

Yeah, Bubba... get yourself a forum for all 49 or so HP2S owners... LMAO!
At least you are used to small numbers, looking at the size of your town... would be fun to find out how the participation would be... I am curious though, wouldn't it be more pertinent for you to try and increase the activity on the BMW SR Board, instead of trying to find interest for a Bike that has been produced in such small numbers, most people don't even know it exist!?

As ck says, the business just isn't there. The K12S forum was created because of all the chatter we were having when the bike came out and the moderators thought there was enough to be able to take it somewhere else. There wasn't. Of course there was already a pretty vigorous site, the I-BMW.com site that has lots of K-bike chat and info, so there was real competition there. (This is where I go to learn about my "new" bike, and they have long time, knowledgeable regulars just like we do....good site.)
But it seems to me that the Sport is close enough to the R11/12S's that it would be another failure as a forum. And.....hoping here.....the new ohc motor may show up in the next regular S, so that's another reason for a "no" vote. But then what do I know.

Man, all I did was pose a simple question Ralf. All this venom and personal attack on my small town. Have you had your morning coffee yet?

A good question Bubba. I, as you know, have one on-order with hopefully a Nov. delivery date. But my experience on other sites with attempts at splintered forums usually fail. Now and then the old "Gun Forum", or "Photography Forum" etc. seems to show up and either gets quashed or if initiated, participation is minimal. The KLT site has pretty good responses in the RT and the GS forums because many of its participants are dual-bike owners, or converts, and know all of the members, and still contribute to the main forum. And, if one really wants GS or RT info they go to ADVRIDER or BMWSPORTTOURING, resp. But, in the same breath if I want HP2Sport info (or if I take Curve's recommendation to get an R12S spare heh heh) then I'm coming here as the definitive site.
Besides, then we'd become even bigger snobs and for all intents and purposes we'd have to rename the forum "The Mutual Admiration Society". ![]()

Maybe it's something you could combine with an R1200ST, K1, and R1200CL forum.

C'mon, man! We need something to talk about. We're already down to digging up 9 year old threads about the R1100S and the R1200S hardly has any problems and is effectively discontinued... Next thing you know, someone will want to start a Rockster forum.

Talking about gas mileage is boring, Steve. Stirring the pot every now and then get us off TDC. There is very little new involving the R11S. the R12S has become a one year wonder. The HP2 Sport will at least have a multi-year run. I'd like to know if some enterprising company is going to fabricate some inexpensive (as compared to cf) track day plastic. we should not be so intolerant of probing questions. Just state the pro's and con's. But, this is just one man's opinion in a group that beats itself up but then becomes like a momma bear protecting her cub. So far the overwhelming consensus is no. As if I didn't expect that answer. Ralf, the purpose of BMWSR is to promote Sport Riding versus the major BMW bent of touring and camping. We also support BMW competition riders like Nate and BP146 that represent the brand. The BMWSR forum is primarily about racing a track day events and that is a good purpose. One forum doesn't mean the other is bad. Many folks on the BMWSR forum went out to work in Nate's pit and cheer him on. Well, that's enough rant. Hope you can drop by Roebling on your way to Daytona, Ralf. I'll buy you a cup of coffee.
