I wonder what goes through these guys heads when they are running screws into someone's spine, also wondering if they drill a pilot hole?

Hope you are healing well.

Center punch and a hammer to make sure the drill doesn't slip.

external suspension

They have told me that my right suspension is also kaput, requiring replacement, i have opted to strap on an external brace rather than undergo the knife for now

Bill-

I thought we talked about this last summer? Anyway, take care of yourself and go real, real easy.

Got the call Tuesday and will be going in for the knee replacement in two weeks. Maybe we can exchange weeeeeird drug induced messages.

Is the new shop space in the the garage where I parked?

Greetings Boxercup-

Eight weeks post-op and calling it a success. Back at work doing full duty. No pain just some aches and stiffness in the morning. As a friend pointed out, "Your back is fixed but you're still 60". Still can't touch my toes but can get halfway down my shins. Surgeon said improvements go until about three months post-op.

Turkey day meant I got to shovel snow off the driveway so friends and family could drive up. Very tired afterward, lost muscle and fitness in the last year. Lots of good food but tired not to stuff myself this year. Missed our daughter(the family baker), who off doing research in Slovenia on the Roma.

Rob-

Drill the damn holes, you can always replace body work on the bike if it goes wrong. Maybe find some nice looking plugs first before you drill, then you can use the right size to start.

What bothers me looking at the x-ray is how random the screws seem with their different angles. My spine is curved in that shot because I was unconscious and laying on my side when it was taken.

Had some time to look over the display models, while waiting on the surgeon the other day. Older ones had splined rotation discs, shims, collars, screws, clamps and rods but for the life of me I could not figure out how the clamping force worked on the long rods. Very cool looking machine work on the parts through. The new style(mine) is elegantly simple in comparison and looks to be a lot easier to install and align.

My wife has been a good sport through all this, which will be my fourth surgery in 26 months. If the billing works out right they will each fall in a separate calendar year so I have to pay the deductible for each one. Still feel blessed and happy with the improvements in my life.

Yes but on light duty... Tired of laying around.. I have gained a bit of weight I am at 177lbs now... hoping to get back on my bicycles soon. I spent some time in the garage today, taping drywall seam's and putting joint compound over nails. Texturizing the walls will be next.

I am medically cleared for regular activity. although in the same appointment I decided I really need to part company with my orthoped. He really didnt want to show me the xrays... and he refused to say whether he thought I should have the ligiments in my shoulder fixed now or not. All he would say is "I cant guarantee an outcome, you need to decide if you want to wait and see how they are in a few more months or treat it more aggressively"

I thought he was the surgeon. I figured he would at least have an opinion for me to want a second opinion on. So I got my records and went to radiology and picked up the pics. no disc tho, so all I have is poached photos... I mean, surely there is some AC joint experience in pelican bay... I am actually hoping the shoulder specialst I'm going to says this will resolve but, ummmm, well...

right shoulder(for reference):

Left shoulder:

Well Brian I am no expert... But I can say...I cant guarantee an outcome, you need to decide if you want to wait and see how they are in a few more months or treat it more aggressively.

We need a Show your X Ray thread. I have a mysterious piece of metal in my right ankle, I have no idea where it came from, must be an alien implant.

Brian, The doctor Kate went to in Tucson looked at MRIs and X-Rays, but he said he had to go in and look, because you just can't tell everything from the pics. So he he operated on her scopically, and he "cleaned some stuff up" Her shoulder is a lot better now, but she still has issues and probably will for ever. He could tell by feeling her shoulder while she moved her arm around that there were issues, and nothing was torn.

In my opinion you have not been to see the doctor yet.
