turn signal
Well I managed to break the RH rear turn signal on my new to me boxercup replica before I even got it home. Reading some posts about the stock signals it seems the OEM ones are subject to breaking. I read about people using Harley and Yamaha replacements and found a couple pics of universal type signals. Also saw some incorporated into a license plate frame. Looking for more good ideas. Not wanting to get carried away with a complete tail tidy.
I am considering these: https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/oxford-led-tips-turn-signal-indicators Any experience on how easy to install the universal type are? Will these be plug and play? Better suggestions? I will try to get some pics and post an intro of myself and the new bike tonight. Thanks, Ross |

It's all up to you.
Just bear in mind that with a bike such as the Boxercup Replica, as you start dumbing it down from original, what remains of the resale value will also take a corresponding hit. May not be 1:1, but that bike has a small amount of "collector" value.... But then again, lots can happen to it anyway...

Have you checked Beemer Bone Yard for used turn signals?

You may just need a new post / bracket - pretty inexpensive and available from BM as they were the same across a lot of models - I'll see if I can find the part number as I bought a couple about 12mnths ago...

AndrewM...
You're a trooper! I didn't look closely at my broken rear signal...this little gizmo separates from the signal body and is all I need and not a completely new signal. Thanks for posting this. . ![]()

No worries - glad to help - mine was glued on the LH side and rattled loose on a ride up to northern vic - bought 2 just in case as it's a common problem and easily broken.
All the best... |

I have these LED turn signal:
https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/koso-led-turn-signals They are not DOT legal, but they are ECE rated, which means they have some garanteed brightness and diffraction pattern. They are bright, and work reliably. You will need to either install an in-line resistor, or add a 1milli-ohm resistor to replace the steel bridge resistor in the flasher relay. Otherwise they'll flash too fast. If you need more input on that, I can take a picture. |

Those are obviously made of plastic but Wunderlich used to sell that part made of aluminum and virtually unbreakable. Unfortunately no longer available but maybe we can ask them to run a new batch. It's a long shot but I'd be in for 2 or 3 sets.

I have the Wunderlich stalks . Seems like one of our machinist saavy members could make these. As easily as the plastic stalks break there ought to be a market for aluminum ones. 2cnts. from tjs

Thanks for the replies. I was thinking that keeping turn signals original wasn't all that important. I was hoping that with LED's the bike would be more visible. Looked into buying a replacement OEM and looks like $65, not horrible. I think I will look a little for used before I order

There is some value in the blinker pod breaking rather than piercing your leg in a lowside. I'm pretty sure that's the reason why all ECE compliant pods have a flexible base.

That's a good point. The two I broke over the years, one on mine and one on the wife's, was just walking by the bikes and bumping the stalk. Snap. The aluminum pieces still pop off it you hit them hard enough, they just don't break.

Aluminum? This is 2017. 3D printing is where it is at. ABS plastic. So far no issues. Black is OE. Blue filament was loaded in the printer so blue it was.

BigDav,
For the OEM copy it is now. Version 2.1 (slightly larger screw hole) was just uploaded to grabcad. Both Solidworks and STL files are now included. -Jim |
