1999 Rear Tire Hugger Fender

Hi everyone: I am looking for a new rear tire hugger fender for my 1999 R1100S. Does anyone know where I can find one at an affordable price?

My old one was held on by a cast iron bracket that bolted on the two bolts on the rear caliper. I entered into a dip on the highway and the cast iron broke under pressure when the fender came into contact with the rear wheel. I was loaded down with camping gear.

I think I can overcome this issue by setting the Olins rear and from shocks for the heavier load. I am also looking for a design that is all carbon, as opposed to carbon flowing into cast iron which is too fragile for touring.

Any help would be much appreciated. John in Victoria, BC, Canada

If $200 qualifies as affordable, you can get one here.

I bought one of their front fenders a few years ago. Quality seems good; mine is holding up fine.

Thank you Lars. Best price I have seen for a top quality carbon fibre. Is the bolt down part made of cast iron? I am now weary.

Spoke to Nicecycle. Kyle confirmed their design is all carbon fibre, no cast iron bolt down component.

Does anyone out there know anything about Skid Marx in the United Kingdom that makes this full one piece carbon fibre design. They make one for my 1999 R1100 S? It is different from the Nicecycle/Wonderlich design in that a wide carbon fibre arm comes directly down from the fender over the caliper. Looks like a nice design, but don't know anything about the quality of the carbon fibre. Check hereRear Huggers

I've never heard of cast iron being used in conjunction with a fender, but I've been misinformed before.

My front fender is all-carbon. It fit nicely. No warpage, all holes lined up, etc.

Looked on the Skid Marx site, didn't see a carbon option for the R1100S. Can't comment on their quality.
