R1200s dash display problem (?)
 

I'm looking to bid on an R1200s with some minor plastic damage. It seems like a pretty good deal, but I've run into an issue.

The album for the auction included a picture of the odometer reading but all that was displayed on the dash was the reading and the time (no temp or gear shown). For all of you owners out there, is there any situation in which the gear indicator and engine temperature is displayed as blank, or is the electrical system on this bike something I should be worrying about?

Had to go look, but, yeah, when key is turned to off (from on) position this is, indeed, what I see - but only for approx 7 seconds before screen goes blank.

Guess if the seller wasn't planning on starting it up and turned it on for just the odo reading, this might be the case.
Haven't been around Beemers much so no clue on how the modern ones function :-?
